Hello!
I am a new member from Albany, NY. Although I started collecting stamps as a youngster, it wasn't until I was about 40 that I began collecting seriously. At this point my greatest passion is to at least come close to filling pages in my Scott Album #1, 1840-1940. I'm about two thirds of the way there.
At this point I've retired as a full-time faculty member from Penn State University. Prior to joining PSU in 2013, I had been a consultant here in the U.S. focusing on risk management and investigations. I had traveled extensively through the country for that purpose.
At this point I spend time both homeschooling my granddaughters and teaching part-time for Penn State. I'm a member of the Fort Orange Stamp Club in Albany, and the Stamptrotters club in Red Hook, NY. I also love to play golf.

Stan,
My wife and I follow the weather channel...almost religiously. You've be inundated this year with wet weather. It may take two years to dry out your golf courses! I feel your pain.
Best,
Antone

Rene,
I thought I had replied a bit ago but evidently I didn't click on the right button to post. Thank you for the greeting. I grew up very close to the Canadian border (Watertown, NY) and loved traveling North. One of our favorite vacation spots is Stratford, Ontario.
It appears you live in New Brunswick. Correct? How active is the stamp collecting community in your province?
Best,
Antone

Best, Antone Hi Antone, Edmundston, New Brunswick, is 3 hours away from my Club in Fredericton. Weather has not been good to travel down to Tuesday meetings but there is a good bunch of stampers over there....I plan to go some day with a sleep over for sure. There is club in St. John also, of its details I do not know. Cheers - René

Ludwig,
It is interesting that I hear from someone living in Italy. Recently I came across a friend who had a trove of Italian stamps from the 1840-1940 period. I was able to complete a couple of whole pages in the Scott album. And I recently ordered some stamps for the album from the Agean Islands and Rhodes.
Thanks for being in touch.
Best wishes,
Antone

The coincidences in my life grow. My wife and I are going to Clayton next week for a couple of nights on the River. There is a new hotel -- 100 Islands Harbor House -- which is a wonderful place with a view to relax by the water.

Chris,
Thanks for the greeting. Two of my best vacations were to London and Edinburgh. In Edinburgh I learned never to put ice in a glass of Scotch!
Best,
