Sun Moon Lake is located in central Taiwan, at the foothills of Central Mountain Range. The following accompanying stamp focuses on the lakeshore bike path that goes around the lake: Being a major attraction of Taiwan, the Sun Moon Lake is commemorated in stamps many times in the history of ROC:

Here ends my sharing of Taiwan's pictorial cancels. A huge pile of drawings awaits me I just added a description to the 'Chiang Ku' event that is shown on one of the Yilan stamps earlier shared in this post. It's quite difficult to write about these folk traditions in English. I hope I haven't done a terrible job.

You did a most excellent job, Linda!!! k Well, I was born in July. And all this time, I thought I avoided celebrating my birthday for other reasons!

khj -- You were born in July in the Lunar calendar? I thought many old Taiwanese people avoided giving birth in that month!

My parents were desperate for a son! Actually, July for Gregorian. Not sure if I made the cut for 7th month of that lunar year. Let me check... (odd that I know my Mom's Lunar & Gregorian birthdates but not my own!)

Nope, I'm tossed into the 6th month box for the Lunar Calendar that year. Never bothered to check my Lunar Calendar birthdate. I'm so Westernized, a true banana

Hualien Port Lighthouse in Hualien County was first built in 1909 with lighting equipments that were relocated from other lighthouse. In 1964 it was rebuilt in to the current iron frame outlook. [Date of cancellation: 20 March 2023.] The black pictorial cancel is the special first-day-of-issue cancellation that accompanies the release of a new set of stamps commemorating Zhuyin, a set of Chinese phonetic symbols that is currently only in use in Taiwan. It doesn't has any connection with the lighthouse, besides that it was available at the Hualien post office which offered the lighthouse cancel. A few hours ago, a 7.4 earthquake just struck this region. Epicenter was ~10 miles SSW of the lighthouse, a bit more than 50 miles south of my hometown.
