What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

I have been half heartedly chasing a mint copy of the Unitrade F1 2 cents orange registered stamp to go with my mint 5 and 8 cent examples. Much to my surprise I won this one at 7.01 US, well below my maximum bid. The listing showed the border as being too white which may have turned off other bidders. I was a bit suspect but took a chance. I was actually happy that the actual stamp has yellowed as one would expect. Centering are often an issue with these stamps, that I can live with. I have scanned 3 used copies I have and am thinking I will try a 3% peroxide bath on the one that is brown ( there is no such shade). If it is sulphurized, it is about as extreme as one would ever see. Here are the 3 mint stamps I now have. The centering of the 5 cent one is terrible but interesting. Maybe one day I will find a better centered one but would still keep this one.

After seeing the success of several other members doing a 3% peroxide wash on various classics I decided to see how one of these registered stamps would do. There was little change after 1 minute so I left it in for 2 followed by a rinse in water. I would call it a success and will leave it rather than press my luck. Unitrade shows orange as F1 with 3 shades listed including vermillion F1a; rose carmine F1b 1888 and orange red F1i. Before cleaning After 2 minutes in 3% peroxide
