I've picked up a few post cards, most either postmarked in or addressed to Nebraska. I hadn't planned on collecting post cards. I just pick up a few here and there if something catches my eye. I'll start with my absolute favorite, so far: Gemini - Tuck's Birthday Post Card, Series No. 200 "Sentiments of the Months" Postmarked May 3, 1911, Grand Island, Nebr. To Lillian Schaaf c/o Henry Schaaf, Grand Island (Scanner cut off the bottom a bit) I even love the short message: "I didn't have no other card - Olga"

Mr. Place was lucky, he obviously wasn't a plough polisher or a submarine operator. From the Wikipedia article on the Modern Woodmen: Ryan

Great stuff, Ryan! Your post prompted me to Google Mr. Place, and I've discovered that he was apparently a dairyman - manager of the Cedar Rapids Creamery. See Line 32 below: My Googling also brought up my previous posting of this card on SCF, where - of course - Google-Fu Master wt1 had already shared this information.

As featured in my "Weird Perfs" thread: Real photo post card showing the [Abraham] Lincoln Memorial Bridge in the Missouri Valley at Blair, NE. Postmarked Sep 7, 1929, Blair, Nebr Addressed to Miss Lucile Garrett, Beatrice, Nebr. From Wikipedia: Fun personal aside: The name of the city to which the post card was addressed is pronounced "be- AT-riss", not "BEE-uh-triss" like the feminine name or, as my PaPa called it, "beet-rice".
