Tim - to my eye this is very much not an Elm - what makes you think otherwise? ;-);-). It's obviously a deciduous job of some kind - but there are zillions of them, so nigh on impossible to know for certain ............ now, if we could see a leaf or two:-) Sadly, in the U.K., we lost nearly all of our old large Common Elm trees due to Dutch Elm Disease - I refuse now to talk to anyone from Holland - a mean trick wouldn't you say ;-);-);-).
For some reason the Wych Elm seems to have fared better.
