These are tickets from the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition. Not much in the way of design, but there were a large variety of tickets issued.

An advertising booklet from the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition for fountain pens from the L. E. Waterman Company. The company was founded by Lewis Edson Waterman in 1884.
I like the quotes from "The Pen Prophet," so I am showing the entire booklet here.

I wish that I had saved my ticket for the fair. Knoxville is only a little over an hour and a half away and a friend and I drove down and spent the day. As best I can remember, I wasn’t overly impressed with it.

De61, you found something marvelous. The Seattle World's Fair was the first out-of-town visit I remember, at the age of four. My father drove us from San Francisco. The monorail made a big impression on me, as did a men's restroom where I got lost; it seemed enormous. I didn't know then, but the monorail was made possible by the work of Axel Wenner-Gren, who would play an important role in my own work much later on.

I was one of the underbidders on this lot a couple weeks ago. I'm kicking myself for not going higher. Tickets from the 1915 Panama Pacific Expo in San Francisco aren't that uncommon. But this is the first ticket I've ever seen for the Panama-California Expo in San Diego, which was going on at the same time. Despite not having this in my possession I thought it would be informative to post an image.

no idea (and I thought the same thing about the 7 digit numbering)
maybe they were just really optimistic
found this online I take the 525 participants to be exhibtor/stamp dealers (?)
n 1949. France organized an international philatelic exhibition to commemorate the centenary of the French postage stamp. The exhibition is installed in the Grand Palais. From June 1 to 12, the public can admire more than a thousand frames from 525 participants. On the occasion of the event, the postal administration issues a stamp, a special stamp of 10Fr, a block and a strip of four stamps. Two stamps are also put into service: a date stamp and a grid. The date stamp is rather common while the grid is more rare.

I was at the 1982 World's Fair in Knoxville. Have a few items - I'll dig them out & post some pix.... I was at that fair, too. I remember getting to the end of it and thinking "that's it?" As World's Fairs go, it was a big yawn.
