More seriously, if one moves away from engraved stamps, which have an almost unfair advantage, I am partial to this 1972 butterfly set from Oman with its silver background that really lets the wing colors shine through:

I tried and failed miserably in finding out what notes are on that stamp. However, the stage-coach motive is from a section of the upper part of Moritz v.Schwind´s
painting "Eine Symphonie".It is claimed, that this mural-like oil-painting was inspired by Beethoven´s "Chorfantasie" op.80,so the notes are probably from there.
But back to the most beautiful stamp: I wouldn´t know my world-wide favourite, but for Austria it is:
From the 1964 UPU-Congress set.
My favourite set would be from 1923,showing motives from the capitals of the Austrian "Länder".
Or perhaps this is the nicest ?
10 Kronen of the jubilee-set for Franz-Joseph´s 60th anniversary from 1908 ?

I tried and failed miserably in finding out what notes are on that stamp. According to Musical Notations on Stamps part 3, the music is from a post horn call. See this link (it's a 16 page pdf) and see under Mongolia who issued a stamp on stamp version. Daniel

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

tele1962 The stamp you shared is an airmail from San Marino issued in 1933 Scott C16. The surcharge is placed on C6.
