So, I went over to the local stamp store to try and fill a hole in my collection, Scott 3484A, the Bison definitive with a perf that's 10.5 x 11.25.
The dealer was very insistent that I need to collect these in a pair, with 3484 attached to 3484A.
And I think I just answered my own question. 3484 attached to 3484A would make a se-tenant pair, would it not?
Ok, I guess I have to redesign a page...

I think that, technically speaking, a se-tenant pair would be stamps of different design adjacent to each other (unless perforations/die cuts have been incorporated into the definition of a stamp design).

I had always defined se-tenants as 2 or more connected stamps that have unique major Scott catalog numbers. Since Scott issues unique major catalog numbers for perf varieties and micro-prints (for US at least, for foreign countries it gets a minor number or just a footnote), I consider this a valid se-tenant. But that's just me, I'm no expert.
