This one confused me seems to be a release from P.O. but not postage am I right? With respect, for good information please include pertinent data in the text of your post, otherwise for those wishing to identify articles, it is like appraising a diamond, with the customer holding it 6 feet away. I see it is Canada can you offer year of issue or anything else in fine print? Cheers

Upper left corner. Issued for the 1992 World Philatelic Youth Exhibition in Montreal. Right, with that included in the post, one can search for the item in the future within the forum ,and it provides also a link for Google. Mute posts are not very helpful within the forum for information retrieval. Catalogue "Field Guide to the Cinderella stamps of Canada" Catalogue # cc1385 1992 Canada Post hosted the exhib part of the 350th anniv of the founding of Montreal Exist : 2 items Pane as submitted, and red on white meeting logo CV : $2.50

There were in fact two other advertising labels issued for the 1992 World Philatelic Youth Exhibition held in Montreal: with the order of the French or English text switched. And to make things even more interesting, there was a rather cryptic imperforate label also issued for this exhibition. It features a statue of Sieur De Maisonneuve (founder of Montreal in 1642) with a cartoon of the Jacques Cartier bridge in the background, but no other inscription.

I find it strange that the post office would go through the trouble to print stamps that were not for postage,AND put their name prominently on them.

The other capex 78 sheet (see post above) would have looked nicer had it been inked in original color instead of black and white.Cidycan how many were released for this sheet I see they were numbered which tells me limited number.

Send an image of the red-omitted sheet. First I hear about it.
For the CAPEX 78 CBNC souvenir sheet, I have no idea how many were printed. But I've seen serial numbers up to 7373, so I'd guess 10,000.

Ah. Mystery solved. The CANADA 92 labels with red are larger than the gray logo in the top margin of the souvenir sheet. They were issued in sheets of 20 (2 x 10) and will always be perforated at the top.

The 3d KEVII and Queen Alexandra label is the kind of portrait design that always struck me as funny. With those jaunty angles tipped off of vertical, it looks like a comedy stamp to me rather than a grave royal portrait. ha ha ha

"Jaunty angles" I like that.

Some of my favorite Canadian cinderellas: an obscure set of at least 5 stamps showing beautiful watercolour painted scenes of Vancouver, issued in 1936 for the city's Golden Jubilee celebration. Has anyone seen others in this series?

Here's one that came in today. Tiny (16 mm diameter) label with British and French flags, and the slogan "United / Canada's Security". Any guesses as to WHEN this one was issued?

I thought about WWII. But why would Britain and France be united to ensure Canada's security during WWII? Both countries were either occupied or under attack by the Nazis, so not really in a position to ensure anyone's security. And to ensure Canada's security against WHO? or WHAT? Against the US? But such labels didn't exist during the war of 1812!

I share your opinion, it doesn't have that "look" of >1940. I was quoting the Ebay sale text.
It has leanings for several potential subjects. What about the French Anglo "Entente Cordial" 1904?
Is the label gummed?

Yes it is gummed. Its very small size also distinguishes it from other WWII stickers. I like your idea of the "Entente cordiale". A quick google search brought up a few images of the British and French flags crossed in a manner similar to that seen on the label. So the Entente cordiale would fit with the design. The only thing that isn't clear is how this Entent Cordiale, which resolved North African territorial disputes between France and England, could impact on "Canada's security". There were some concessions that involved Newfoundland, but Newfoundland wasn't part of Canada at the time.

Hmmmm. Maybe it is an obtuse reference to a more united europe, that goes toward Canada's security, it may not point to a direct threat reference. Pre 1940 would dispel any reference to a "crime" angle on "security" The gum may tell a story, yellowing, cracked etc etc. The puzzling bit, is how an ebay seller has had six copies of this label, when Google does not bring up any past references to the label, I find that unusual. I followed the "League of nations" route without seeing any obvious link there.
If genuine, then someone somewhere, sometime, had the energy and the passion to design, produce, and distribute this piece of ephemera, obviously thinking it important. Pre 1940 would suggest it is not just a random sticky label.
What also comes to mind is the colouring, whilst the design points to pre 1940, the colours seem late, the whiteness of the labels and the light blue. Older labels say circa 1904 would evidence some yellowing and the blues darker. (just an observation) Also perhaps consider visits by Monarchy, it may be just a simple sticker that adorned a piece of gift china and the like. 16mm does not lend itself to a loud "message " sticker.

I contacted the seller of the "United Canada's security" labels. He purchased them about 25 years ago at the Toronto Old Paper Show from someone who mentioned they were from WWII. Apparently made by a printing firm that had gone out of business. They are in a small cardboard box without further markings. It's not unusual for such labels to have been sold in packs of 50 or 100. The shiny gum is in excellent condition - but that can mean that they've been well stored for decades. I agree that it is not a loud message sticker, and could have been affixed to smaller objects. To me it most closely resembles (gum, paper, ink, etc) the small "There will always be an England" bulldog sticker (both to scale), definitely made in Canada (note maple leaf at top) during WWII, and also with crossed flags. So I'm not ruling out WWII yet, though the slogan did take me aback.
