Thought I'd show two more covers from the auction the other day. These both sport Queen Victoria numeral issues and were both posted in 1898. The first postmarked in Little Current Ont. has an SC78 3ยข QV and a nice squared circle cancel. My 1959 edition of Alfred Whitehead's book "The Squared Circle Postmarks of Canada" states of Little Current, " The gateway to Manitoulin Island. Visited by Champlain in 1610: later a fur-trading centre of the North Wet Co. Pop. 1,200. Proofed: MY 22, 1894 Earliest: JU 5, 1894 Latest: JY 24, 1900 RF (rarity factor) 25 The second is a nice advertising cover from Jas. F. Van Buskirk Farm Machinery of Fredericton, NB. Unfortunately stained, it has an SC 77 die I and is postmarked in Fredericton NB on November 1 1898. Back canceled in Gagetown NB November 3.
