I logged in and tried to vote, but it only seems to show me the reseults my vote would be for all variants to show, rather than toggling to see standard disclaimer= I am not affiliated in any way commercially with anybody anymore, but I am biased as I collect "variants" Agree so I re-voted for that - You LOG In in the upper corner of Colnect with the link given to us - choose upper or lower and submit !! Colnect poll on streamlining variant display. Reminder to all those who use Colnect that we have a poll up to determine if a new streamlined display for variants should be adopted. Voting open for another couple weeks so if you have not voted, please consider doing so.

I am finding colnect unusable. When I try to get in, I get a vicious circle of prompts that wont let me actually use the site. I have clicked on every possible option, and only go around in circles. The frustration level is now extreme.

It would take a few tries to get fully authenticated.

I use Firefox on a mac. "welcome to colnect" boxes: close or continue. Continue leads to "click here to open the languages menu" clicking back gets me to the welcome to colnect prompt. Close leads to "would you like to resume the guide later?" All options (Never, Now, Later ALL lead back to the dreaded Welcome to Colnect box. Nothing I do can rid me of those boxes and just get to the site! What is the point of this torture? Why should it be inflicted on a user of a common, ordinary browser?
So I tried Safari, and got a warning that the connection is insecure and that I should close the window.

About Colnect …
I’ve subscribed to Linn’s Stamp Monthly for decades to get new issue information. I used to literally photocopy and collate the listings for the countries I collect, tape them together and insert into my catalog. Well forget that! With Colnect all the new issues are already there. I know a volunteer entered that data and I wish I could thank them personally. Anyways, yes, there are no catalog prices but all Scott’s does is double the face value for mint and set some arbitrary, plain silly value for used material. Yeah, I didn’t renew my subscription.

I have a Mac, using Safari for most everything. I've never had a problem with it. When I see problems like what you describe greaden , the 1st thing I do is quit the app. 2nd is re-set the app. Then lastly... re-boot.
Not sure why you are having so many problems...

I used to do that with Lin's new issue updates as well! I am the one who handles almost all the new issue updates, on my nights off work I spend 3-5 hours doing new issues, referencing all my Philatelic bureau websites, checking Delcampe and ebay for new issues from countries without good online Philatelic bureaus. I try to keep on top of them the best I can and usually add around 200 new listings a week for new issues, sometimes more

Sorry to hear of your issues. I've never used Firefox or Safari so can not help here, but there is a bugs forum on Colnect that may be able to help. If you post, include screenshots of the error message you get, as well as information on the versions of the browser you are using.

I ´ve had an interesting experience with Colnect: Some time ago I notced them about a non-listed booklet-pane from Ireland, overprinted "From London 1980 to New Zealand 1990". They did not want to list it,what was O.K. with me,although I do not agree with that decision. However this brought me a "premium-membership",(I had not asked for);but again, that´s O.K. ! For a trial I put into the market-place section an offer for a set of stamps from Cuba. In regular intervals I then was asked,to log in,in order to extend that offer. One fine day,I received a mail from Colnect, with this sentence: "Tilbodet ditt er no lukka". I had and still have no idea, what this language might be.Possibly a scandinavian language ? Anyway, although it was a "non-reply" mail,I answered it,writing, that I would not understand the content of their mail.
Rather unexpected I received an "answer-mail" from colnect, saying: "!Important! Please Use Colnect´s Support Forum Re: Stengt tilbot:Stamps:Cuba:Birds"
Well I did not know, how to do that.So that was the end for me.(and my premium-membership)

It is Norwegian and its telling you that your offer is closed. When you list something for sale you can set how long you want it to be listed, max 30 days. And it can be relisted up to 10 times. Why you got the message in Norwegian I have no idea.

I know that images can sometimes lag in loading especially on WiFi connections as some image files can be quite large, but they should eventually load.

Colnect has been a wee bit slower this past week but no issues with delays of images rendering. I have seen an increase in annoying pop up ads covering the screen. Sometimes it is the same banner ad on page and then a pop up version. If you use an ad blocker, Colnect complains. I wonder if the new ad activity is slowing the loading since they do come from other servers.

So the last poll regarding the creation of a simplified method of displaying variants was voted down by a 3:2 margin. So now I have come up with a proposal that will define what makes a variant major or minor for the new catalogue, and have now put my proposal up to a poll to be voted on. If you use Colnect please take a moment to vote in the poll New Poll On Colnect 16 June 2022 DJCMH's Proposal on VariantsFingers crossed this will finally settle the discussion after nearly six months.

I have had a dip in to Colnect on several occasions, but have to say since I am now quite specialised in my collecting , it does nothing for me. I had the looping issue on log in illustrated by greaden in April, which eventually I over came by clicking on “later” Cross referencing to a range of catalogues is not important since I use one major catalogue with a couple of others as assists. However I focussed on one early 1877 classic series, only to find that of the 20 illustrated 4 were forgeries 15 were reprints and only 1 was a genuine stamp. How does one get Fakes removed ?

And yes, some photo's leave a lot to be desired. Now that I have an account...Yes, at the bottom of each stamp's main information page, there is a dialogue box titled "Improve Our Catalogue" - enter a comment (or submit a picture using the uploading tool below the Improve box) and submit, an editor will then deal with the issue, either correcting the errors once verified, uploading the image if it is better quality.

Well that was a waste of time !!!
I reported 3 forgeries to Colnect only to get the message from some one called UMBERTO2 " your comment has been rejected !"
so incorrect images are out there pretending to be genuine.

Well that was a waste of time !!! I reported 3 forgeries to Colnect only to get the message from some one called UMBERTO2 " your comment has been rejected !" so incorrect images are out there pretending to be genuine. Images in Colnect are just illustrations. But the better the image is the better colnect become. You use one of the big three and I guess you use SG? How are the images there (at SG)? Is it possible to ask for better illustrations there? What is the response? The ansver from UMBERTO2 is reasonable because I guess you did not provide an Image of the genuine stamp? Just to copare Random stamp from SG and the same from Colnect
Witch do you prefer? It's clear Alex vikingeck that you had to make a point that Colnect is no god, not serious, not for you. But Colnect is in constant change, it's develop and it's we, the users who can improve it. UMBERTO2 don't know you and as you did not provide a better image he of course reject you comment. If he should have responded to your comment or anybody else with that comment the risk of deleting something wrong is to high. But if you come with an good image of an genuine stamp, I guess it would be accepted.

whilst I've not seen the images vikingeck speaks of, and I probably lack the expertise to tell the difference anyway, I can't agree with tobben63's comment that the reply from UMBERTO2 "is reasonable". Colnet's response lacks any courteous interaction with vikingeck, and the rather obvious reply would surely have been to thank the correspondent and ask for an explanation or - as tobben63 suggests - ask for additional images to help. Whether UMBERTO2 is aware of vikingeck or not, shouldn't automatically mean a dismissive reply is necessary. If the alleged "incorrect images are out there pretending to be genuine", it would benefit everyone to be aware of this situation.
