I had been after a certain Cinderella book for some time but had always been outbid or just never got around to seriously grabbing a copy. So it was far from my mind as I wandered around a local market during my recent UK trip. I had managed to pick up some nice Ration Books [will show these elsewhere another time] from a Wartime stall holder who had some great items. Then I came across a Lady selling books and what did I see on the table standing up..............Yes, it was Alice Through the Pillar Box, that great stuff of dreams and in super condition, complete with outer cover !! I had expected a bargaining bout and was prepared....but it went like this...... LB1......"How much for this book" ? Seller......."50p" [75c] LB1, quivering slightly, hands over 50p and runs away quickly !! The bargain of my holiday by a nautical Mile. More about the book and some pics another day. It is quite brilliant and shameless. The stuff of dreams......... Londonbus1

Jinkies Mr. Bus! That is a thing of beauty! Are those the actual labels on the pages or are they (heaven forbid) printed there? (you can guess why the text on this post is the colour it is.)

LB1, quivering slightly, hands over 50p and runs away quickly !! Congrats! It's Gorgeous!! It seems like a predecessor to Nick Bantock's Griffin & Sabine series.

james, not the actual stamps but reproduced for the book in extremely fine style. They look like you just want to pick them up...amazing.
Thanks Zuzu, I'll have to check out Griffin and Sabine.

Thanks Zuzu, I'll have to check out Griffin and Sabine. The Griffin & Sabine books are some of my favorites. They are written as a series of correspondence, and many of the pages feature actual "letters" that you must remove from an envelope to read.

It seems like a predecessor to Nick Bantock's Griffin & Sabine series. Every now and then, an original piece from Nick Bantock shows up on the Weeda Stamps bidboard. Here are a couple of the most recent. Ryan
