Belgium postcard (Orval Church Notre Dame) 1929 posted from Gent to France. A pity about the damage. The only Orval I know is the potent Trappist beer:) Graham

Surely the number 322 corresponds to the post office that canceled the stamp. Unfortunately we need a list of these numbers for Belgium which I do not have. Surely some friends of the forum that collects Belgium will be able to tell you which post office and location it belongs to.

Can anyone identify this type of postmark? I was going through an envelope of older on paper Belgium and found this one. It was the only one like it in the whole envelope. No town name or nothin', so I don't know. Any clues? It looks like but in linear, is it "pizza cuter"?

I am placing this here because my question is about the cancelation? The stamp itself is fairly common ( COB #419b ), but I have not seen this obliteration before. The stamps almost look like they could have been a pair, but when the perfs are lined up they obliteration is still offset, and looking at the perfs, there is no match to indicate they were once "neighbors".

Another interesting postmark found. The wording of "Journaux" leads me to believe this was used to send a newspaper or periodical? It was apparently used before the vignets of 'dagbladen - journaux' era... They stopped this cancellation when the vignets were made...

I think this postmark is Namur Railway Station, correct? I could not find another city in Belgium that ended in ...amur. I am also guessing that this is not a railroad postmark in the traditional sense in that it was probably just a small post office within the station that serviced people going to and from the trains. The stamp is extremely common but may be the grayish paper variety, Scott 52a, rather that the bluish paper, Scott 52. Any thoughts on this? The COB catalog only states 3 versions, bluish paper, light bluish and yellowish.. This looks like the yellowish, which indeed is rarer. 25 euro instead of 0.50 euro for the bluish... It's indeed Namur station...

Sorry Stan stainlessb, none of my reference guides mention this type of dot grid cancellation. I can't find any reference to it in any of my books. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it before.

it is unusual- and of all the stamps I have, it's curious it's only on these two (same stamp/denomination) which may have been used on the same cachet
i can think of no reason for a forged obliteration on this particular stamp
I'll try reaching out to the Belgium Study Group, though they've gotten very quiet since the pandemic

Response from BPSC was no identification- thought perhaps it could be a cancellation from another country because the departing obliteration was missed.... but just a theory

No town name or nothin', so I don't know. Any clues? They were still in use in the sixties apparantly, though in my stamp, the lines are a bit curvier

Assuming same use as "Pizza Cutters" 4 uses Bank Revenues For Parcels To cancel stamps, that for some reason remain uncancelled. As precancels Jay Carrigan 1999 Sc# 455 1958
