Amongst the material of covers in a lot I received several months ago were 13 postal cards of the 1973 Royal Canadian Mounted Police 1973 Centennial. There are 3 different images, different sizes, and some cards have scalloped edges. Each is mailed from a different post. I have found quite a few cacheted envelopes on the internet, but not the post cards. Questions arise - were these "official" post cards or private? Why the variation? How many different posts were represented? Regardless, I think the 1973 RCMP Centennial makes for an interesting side topical collection for my Canadian material. I have my new all-in-one printer (Christmas present to myself and will post some example images when I get it set up.

Or Dudley doright! lol Long story and I'll tell you sometime but I was accosted by a Mountie once and in her office she had a bobble head of -you guessed it! -Dudley DoRight...She knew I was an American/US Citizen and kept looking at that bobblehead like she knew I was going to comment on it...I did not. I knew it was a cleverly disguised trap..lol anyway I went free with no other hassles but I'll never forget that... I have nothing bad to say about the RCMP in fact I think they they are fine outfit!

IMAGE POST 2 IMAGE 3 - 2 Cardas Size B Traveltime Product nbr KSS-4011B IMAGE 4 - 1 Card Size C Travel time Product nbr KSS-4011 Compare image 3 and image 4 - Difference is at the top - also notice (on reverse) that image 4 is nbr KSS-4011 whereas image 3 is nbr KSS-4011B, so image 4 (larger format) came first. Is there also a nbr KSS-4011A for this image? Also notice that image 4 was printed in Vancouver whereas image 3 was printed in Scarborough. So the slight size difference is probably based on where the cards were printed. Attachments:

IMAGE POST 3 IMAGE 5 Size B Traveltime Product nbr KSS-3746A IMAGE 6 Size C Traveltime Product nbr KSS-3746 Notice again that image 6 (slightly larger) was printed in Vancouver whereas image 5 was printed in Scarborough. I think this pretty well confirms that the cards printed in Vancouver are just a hair larger than those printed in Scarborough.

I don't know if the following are part of the 1973 Centennial, they were created at that time. What is interesting are the cancellations - a mix of Cardinal and Roman numerals for the date. Month is Roman numeral whereas the day and year are Cardinal. I am not sure what the numbers "690449" and "690516" represent in the cancellation represent.

I.L.S. - was her name Bullwinkle? No Her Name was Captain Harmer? (Something like that?) She was very intimidating. This happened in 1991 at the peace bridge boarder crossing. ...
