Wile sorting this stamp caught my eye, I have seen stamps that have gotten stuck to the back of another stamp, but usually ink removal is not "complete" wherever there seems to be some missing. Any ideas? Gum on reverse is undisturbed look for this one...never issued....Austria.....CV > $US100 Rene

It looks to my (untrained) eye like a forgery. Here is a photo of my two, typo on left, engraved on right. But perhaps typographed ink can be lifted easily, like your copy...

René this is as close as I can get... This stamp was issued under German occupation, in Russia (Sc # N17 A115 10pf dark brown Engr.) Overprinted in black and belongs in a Russia thread (not Germany) René

Actually, it is still a German stamp. It was issued by Germany for use in Occupied Eastlands (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus). I don't know why Scott has determined that this should be listed under Russia, when Michel has them listed in the Germany book.

While sorting to day, I was checking watermarks and many of the Germany stamps are easy to see, but I had to use some Clarity today.... and I have never seen this before Front, looks normal back- notice the bleed, 4th from left is very faint, but it is there. The two to the right also treated with Clarity and although it looks like maybe two different paper types , no bleed. Anybody else ever see this? All stamps had no-bleed backs prior to puttinto the watermark tray

stainlessb: Do the stamps on the right have the same watermark as the ones on the left? Network or swastikas? The right ones MAY be the earlier printing.

A slow afternoon at the "office" so I sorted stamps and came across this. Anyone recognize this octogon stamp on Adolphs face, or know anything about the origin.... looks official (?)

These is a local post ("Lokalausgaben") from Löbau in Sachsen (Saxony). A number of towns right after WWII, particularly in the Soviet Zone that later became East Germany, printed their own stamps, or as in this case, overprinted WWII issues. I have a number of similar from Löbau and a few other towns. Michel covers them extensively, unlisted in Scott I believe.

You need to do them quickly, don't leave them in the water too long. I do each one separately, one at a time, that way they don't bleed. Yes, it takes a lot more time, but they don't bleed that way.
Have a great day, Mike.

stainlessb , here are a bunch of postal stationary cutouts including two just like yours above. I am pretty sure the one you have is from a postcard because both of mine have writing on the back. I think these are Imperial time period though I don't think either of mine have a recognizable year in the date stamp that would allow us to pin down a time period. I hang on to these as reference "for just such an emergency" as Foghorn Leghorn might say. They inhabit the odds and ends part of my stockpages for Germany.

Thanks darkormex I found another with a fully intact back, so the first one has been cut into, thought enough to go all the way through, and the second one has better margin... but the year portion is missing...

Munich Private Post mid-1890's. There are, apparently, 3 types of the Blue (1½pf) with shade differences too. Also values of 6pf and 10pf. There exists too pre-stamped postcards, letter Cards and Courier Cards. Would be a nice little sideline. In use until around 1912. This era in Munich was (in)famous for the issue of Poster Stamps by just about anyone so a collection of just Munich alone, including these nice 'locals' would most likely take a lifetime !!
Yes, I seriously considered it in my early Cinderella-collecting days and you never know, one day............

Among the new German issues this quarter, of philatelic interest is this stamp commemorating the 75 th anniversary of the "AM Post" (AM: Allied Military) issues of 1945.

Germany 5 Pfennig circa 1875's forward a postcard. mikeclevenger on a previous pages shows what looks to be one if not two intact postcards with this stamp on it. I have looked through Michel specialized and I'm hoping if postcards are covered, someone might tell me where (I have3 an older edition 1999). The stamp was on a stock card of early Austria....
