It stands for Foreign Section - it was the Royal Mail international post sorting office.

Looking through an auction catalogue saw this and it made me laugh. The description is great "½d yellowish green and 1d scarlet Edward, heads of the King cut out and exchanged, the postman did not think it was funny, so he gave 2d postage due." Graham

The GPO never did like cut and shut jobs since 1840 when uncancelled portions of Penny blacks were stuck together and re used ,( that’s why the letters in 4 corners replaced stars on penny red. ) I have to say the cut outs here are very neatly done , an attractive work of art even if deemed illegal in the Mail.🤪

Here is another interesting cover which made the local press for improper use of pre-decimal stamps. However this was not accepted by the Royal mail and a stringent 16p postage due was served. Graham

GB KEVII 1d definitive with Crabbs Cross postmark 1907. Not a place name I have heard of before, "Crabbs Cross is a district of Redditch in Worcestershire, England. Crabbs Cross gets its name from the crossroads, known nowadays as the 'Star and Garter Island'. Historically, Crabbs Cross was the junction of Crabbs Cross Lane, with Evesham Road and the Slough." Full of history and wonder why it was sent! Nice cover. I am guessing someone was refusing to be made party to legal proceedings. A Scottish lawyer could guess much more.

Interesting that there is a valid SEVEN PENCE stamp in the midst of the invalid pre decimals.. The rate to Europe was 18p for surface mail ( or airmail if the facility was available) and that is shown in the English F.S. ( Foreign section) T handstamp as the deficit. Translated as 160 Danish Kr It looks like the valid 7p green stamp has not been noticed in calculating the deficit . Maybe the inspector was so cheesed off he ignored it Here is an interesting made up cover, posted in 1981 with pre-decimal stamps and marked with not valid since 1972 franking, plus postage to pay in Denmark. Put a smile on my face:) Graham

Hello Vikingeck, Thanks for the comments about the cover, particularly the postage rates and details about the Danish postmarks. The seven pence I think is 7 old pence 7d. The decimal wildings were not issued until 1998, so after this letter was sent, in the form of a booklet the definitive portrait. Attached picture shows a couple of the booklet panes and the original pre decimal stamps from the 1960's. It is a clever use of an old style of stamp, done very well. All the best Graham

GB KGV downey heads 1d pair with a very nice Strogue Cross Templemore postmark 1912. A quick check on google and the following was found "Strogue Cross is a rural post office in the parish of Templeree, barony of Ikerrin, 2 miles, Irish, east by north from Templemore, on the way to Templetuohy."
