Hello Everyone
I stumbled across this site a couple of days ago and while browsing through the diff. threads I've read some great discussions and seen a handful of members I recognize from other forums I've participated in.
As a lot of other collectors I started collecting as a kid and then got away from it for awhile, then I started back up again about 20+ years ago and have been going, more or less, strong ever since. My main collecting interest has primarily been used U.S. over the years with more U.S. sub collections then I usually remember. As I get bored with one area or find I have trouble getting new material I usually end up starting on something new. The newest area I've become interested in over the last year or two is U.S. Cinderellas, primarily the older show/exhibition type material. And recently I've been toying with starting a collection of Sweden. Somehow I've accumulated a fair amount of Sweden stamps and as I was going through what I have I've become more and more enamored with the engraved issues they've produced. There are some other collections I play with as well from time to time.
My online activities have been pretty sporadic over the last year and a half, life keeps getting in the way, but hopefully I'll be able to participate with something useful every now and then.

daveGood to see you, lost touch with you during your hiatus and then didn't realize you were active again when the old gang kind of disbanded. Looking forward to catching up and reading about what you've been up to. @frog I'll be sure to post a few things. Just learning the ins and outs of this forum and I've found so many interesting postings that I've been busy reading. Rick

Thanks Jack, trying out some of the diff. features. Is there a help file or thread describing whats what for features and/or any specific rules for this forum, (other than basic ones for proper etiquette), such as posting images, file limitations, etc...?

Rick,
It is good to have a "primarily used U.S." collector join the forum!
Like you, I got sucked in to the world of Cinderalla collecting by the allure of the early exhibition labels.
I look forward to learning more about your collection.

Thanks Steve My collection is pretty eclectic. Sometimes I think I'm more of an accumulator than a collector because organization is not one of my strong suits. I have a tendency to pick up things that catch my attention whether they fit into my collections or not and I'm a real sucker for items I find that I don't know what they are. Spending hours, days or months researching something is sometimes the best part of collecting to me. I have a dozen or more sub collections that I dabble in such as precancels, perfins, fancy cancels, auxiliary markings, revenues, state revenues, Cinderellas, postal history in general, calendar collection, and I'm sure a few more that just escape me at the moment. I've more or less decided over the last year that I'm going to dispose of some collections/accumulations which I didn't list that either don't hold my interest anymore (haven't looked at in a couple of years)or are just too far away from my main interests which will let me focus on adding to the collections that do/are. At least that's what I say right now, we'll see how it actually goes.

Hi Rick. I'm eclectic, too, in collecting. The other day I bought some early Korea first day covers (1946), Japanese stamps with Korean overprints and first issues of post WWII Korean stamps. Certainly they fit with nothing else in my collection, but they caught my attention. So I bought them. And you're among friends in this crowd because, I suspect, many of us are impulse buyers. I look forward to your posts. -- Bud

Hi Rick, welcome aboard. The US stamp show exhibition Cinderellas are some of my favorites. I also branched off in the Poster Stamp Society labels, especially the Stahel/ Dietz labels.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. mac1775Regarding the Stahel/Dietz labels. I was just taking a look at some of those online a couple of weeks ago which led me to the discovery that I actually have one in my collection. I didn't realize just how many of them were produced which were a lot. I have a list/partial list? of them bookmarked somewhere now. Rick

-Dave Its approximately 3 7/8 X 5 1/4. I'm not sure if all of them are that size but from the pics I've seen I would bet most of them are of similar measurements.

Question
I realize there could be a multitude of things with my system settings, browser version and add-ons and so forth that is making this computer specific to me but I was wondering, when I reply to a posting is the "preview" button at the bottom supposed to do anything? When I point my cursor at it, it shows as an active link but when I click on it nothing seems to happen. Was just wondering.
Thanks, Rick

Here is a screen grap of this post you will see the bbcode while you type if you click on the preview you will see how it looks. If you are posting images from photobucket or using large fonts or colours then it will show them
first image is BBcode and second is in preview

If I haven't already said so WELCOME! I see that we have very similar collecting interests so I look forward to seeing stuff from your collection!
A lot of collectors have the same back story including me! I started out my collecting as a child with my Grandmother (my grandfather collected coins) and put it away until my interest in stamps was regenerated somehow. I bet most here have had a similar experience! Again, Welcome aboard!!! -Jeff

Thanks Jack, I understand now. I guess whenever I've made a reply posting I've always been in the "preview" mode so never noticed any changes as they had already happened. In other boards I've used when hitting the "preview" button the screen changed to either a popup window or in formatting to look more as though the post had already been entered into the thread. I was worried that somehow I may have had some settings in my browser that was blocking either popup screens or screen changes that might also effect other features of the site. All is good now, no worries. Rick

Lots and lots of good stuff. I just want to get a little more familiar with the diff. thread categories and then maybe start a thread or two of my own. Rick

To a couple of people that might have been looking for me, I was laid up for a little bit and was only poking my head on here and there as I could. Pretty much able to be on as long as I like now so I'll try and get caught up the rest of the way.
