The one in question & the next 2 are tricky They are reprints You can tell by the currency change - the letters circled The ornament between the numerals is different as is the shape of the lion. The other ones are the 1879-84 issues

Just came across these in my files while working on a Bulgaria article Rarely seen, Scott lists them, Michel Euro & SG do not. They appear in some specialized catalogs. 1884 postage due large lozenge perf. Not positive they are originals

Just started Bulgaria, so here is what I have on my first page. It started life as a Steiner page, but I decided to add some boxes in the 1882 set to house a few different shades. Not sure if they are actually listed anywhere as I don't have anything to go by other than Scott and they don't list any shades for that set. Anyway, I had some duplicates so I thought I would incorporate them. I kind of like these little stamps, especially the pentagram cancels on some.

Another page finished. This is the small Lion issues. The Scott catalog lists 10 values in the main set, and mentions several perforation possibilities. But doesn't go into any detail. They also don't list any shade varieties. I found this online exhibit.. www.japhila.cz/hof/0089/index0089_001.htm..for these issues and thought I could figure out the perforations. But after going through the exhibit I realized I just don't have enough copies or material to attempt anything very deep. There are several printings of these issues that were made over the years, in different locations, with many perforation combinations possible, not just the ones mentioned in Scott. I did notice that Stampworld does list these with various perforations and decided to simply make a page based on that. They may not even be correct, but it is what I am going with right now. It appears, based on my own small stash that the coarser perforations, such as 10.5, will be harder to find. The few I do have are not in great condition. Who knows, I might find more since I do have other envelopes to go through.

[/url] Note how the previous caretaker, constructed a novice repair to the right hand edge (ripped) Often only noticed when we scan our stamps. Occurs more often than one would think. I think I prefer it, than seeing a large chunk out of the stamp.

Nine Kings (King Ferdinand) They had gathered om May 20, 1910, in London for the state funeral of King Edward VII, about two weeks after his death. Above, from left to right, we see: King Haakon VII of Norway, Tsar Ferdinand of Bulgaria, King Manuel II of Portugal, Emperor Wilhelm II of Germany, King George I of Greece, and King Albert I of Belgium. Below, seated from left to right, are: King Alfonso XIII of Spain, the new British King George V, and King Frederick VIII of Denmark.

Aware of that I have him as "European Polecat" Scott The European polecat appears to be the 'Черен пор' (black polecat, Mustela putorius) in Bulgarian. Its friend the 'рпъстър пор' (Vormela peregusna) appears to be quite unique to Bulgaria west of the Ukraine. Edit: The confusion may have arisen from an alternative name: European spotted polecat. In my thread about my own Bulgarian stamps, I have been running into doubtful identification of depictions on Bulgarian stamps on an often quoted website. In the case of this stamp, it has even gone so far as to identify it as Mustela putorius, when the Bulgarian wikipedia site about our little friend, the рпъстър пор identifies it as Vormela peregusna.
