Thanks for your positive comments, BC ! I added some more material to my Hawaii collection from the big show in NYC this year, but I need to get those scanned so I can share them. I will try to do it this weekend. Thanks again for responding to my posts!

I acquired my first Hawaii stamp last week -- an unused, $1 rose pink Queen Emma stamp with black "Provisional GOVT. 1893" overprint (Scott 73). I hadn't planned to begin a Hawaii collection but, as so often happens, I placed an impulse bid and won the prize...

Hawaii, Sc1-29 Regular Issues, 1851-1869 Arranged on Hagner Stock SheetAlthough I have posted bits and pieces of my Hawaii collection before, I never posted any images of the earliest items, so I will try to make up for that now. I also finally have a system for organizing my collection, so I have used it for my Hawaii, too. It looks pretty nice, I think. I will do proper captions by row with catalogue numbers a bit later. Row 1: Header (created from two old album headers 1900-1936) Row 2: Hawaii, Sc6, 13-Cent Dark Red on Thick White Wove Paper, King Kamehameha III Row 3: Hawaii, Sc10, 5-Cent Blue on Ordinary White Wove Paper, King Kamehameha III (ID to be confirmed) Row 4: Hawaii, Sc22, 5-Cent Blue on Blue Paper Row 5: Hawaii, Sc23-24 Row 6: Hawaii, Sc25-26 Row 7: Hawaii, Sc28-29 2-Cent Pale Rose & Dark Red

Hawaii, Sc30-52C Regular Issues, 1864-1891 Arranged on Hagner Stock SheetDespite the fact that the earliest of the Hawaiian stamps are by far the most valuable, I like these from the later period better. They are more colorful, and I like the fact that they depict members of the Hawaiian royal family. Row 1: Hawaii, Sc31-34 Row 2: Hawaii, Sc35-36 Row 3: Hawaii, Sc37, Sc39-41 (missing Sc38, 2-Cent Red Lilac) Row 4: Hawaii, Sc42-46 Row 5: Hawaii, Sc47-49 Row 6: Hawaii, Sc51 Row 7: Hawaii, Sc52-52C

Hawaii, Sc53-82 Regular Issues, 1893-1899 Arranged on Hagner Stock SheetThese are the last of the Hawaiian regular issue postage stamps, which ended in 1899. I am also working on getting a few back-of-the-book issues from Hawaii, just so I can keep collecting. I have almost all of the affordable regular issues now. Row 1: Hawaii, Sc53-59 Row 2: Hawaii, Sc60-64 (missing Sc61B) Row 3: Hawaii, Sc65-69 (missing Sc66C) Row 4: Hawaii, Sc70-73 Row 5: Hawaii, Sc74-76 Row 6: Hawaii, Sc77-79 Row 7: Hawaii, Sc80-82

Many thanks for the positive comments, guys: JeffS , mdroth , and renden . It has been a labor of love, as I have been actively collecting Hawaii for the past 15 years or so, and like so many of the classics, I know that poor condition or damaged material is more often than not, the norm. Perhaps oddly, although I was collecting stamps when I lived in the islands in the early 1980s, I never investigated buying any material at that time. Once I did decide to pursue them, I have tried to choose carefully, and in many cases I have paid a premium to get some of these in nice condition. But as I decided that I really liked them, I concluded it was worth it for me. I am glad to have finally organized my collection so that I can see what I have and which stamps I still need. Thanks again, guys, and aloha, everyone!

Some of your stamps are in beautiful condition. Keep up that collection! By the way, why are the blocks of Queen Liliuokalani stamps so hard to come by? I can't find many for sale. What might be retail price for a block?
In other news, does anyone have anything from Molokai to share? I started a thread on another philatelic forum, but went off on a tangent and its now become focused more on Fr. Damien's endeavours.

Thanks for your post, Catweazle I appreciate your kind words about my collection, and I do indeed plan to keep it going. I need to start working on some of the earlier stamps as well as the BOB material like official stamps and the Kahului Railroad stamps. As for blocks and multiples of Queen Liliuokalani issues, I honestly don't know. I don't have any blocks, and I have never looked for them. I will poke around a bit this weekend and let you know if I can find anything. Specifically, which stamp(s) are you looking for? Anything with Liliuokalani, or one stamp in particular? In the same vein, I don't have any Hawaiian postal history at all (from the Republic era), let alone from Molokai specifically. Sorry! My focus to date has been on the stamps, but as I now have most of those, I probably should start to broaden my interests a bit. If I come across anything, I will post here and tag you. Stay aloha stampy, all!

I agree. Lovely collection of Hawaii there Chris.
I collect Pacific Islands amongst other places and Hawaii definitely has a place amongst them. Unfortunately they don't get the greatest attention from me, but seeing your lovely lot above makes me want to re-look at them.
Hui hou (until later)
