In case you were wondering what one set of forgeries look like. Thanks... I was going to ask what these folks were... They don't look like a genuinely issued set, do they? These forgeries must have a nice story behind...

Another issue you may run across in those crazy box lots. A note from the Scott Catalogue. I can add a little to Frog's and Rene's ( renden ) earlier posts about these stamps. I can show the complete set, as well as an old Minkus Catalogue listing from 1980 courtesy of Jerry B . It seems that the stamps were issued in 1944, not 1946, as the Scott Catalogue note shows. These stamps are also available on the TSF 50/50 Auction thread. Bolivia, Minkus R18-R23, complete set of 6 revenue stamps inscribed "Centenario de la Creacion del Departamento del Beni"

It's also fun to look for various cork cancels on some of the early Bolivian issues. Here is a page of randoms from my collection. Update: It has been brought to my attention I have the wrong title on this page. I really must proof read my pages better. So, it looks like I have a little project for the night.

This fits neatly with the post above from Beryllium Guy regarding the set of revenue stamps noted above. Several of these same stamps were overprinted and surcharged for postal and airmail use in 1966. The one below is Sc. no. 488. The overprint on my stamp below reads as follows: XXV Aniversario Gobierno Busch Whereas the Scott Catalogue shows an image where these two lines of text read as follows: Gobierno Busch XXV Aniversario Any input on this would be appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you. Back to the ol' Michel again. It looks like the Scott image shows the less common variation (Type II), while yours is the more common Type I and sub-type I, II or III). (I think yours is Type I-I, but the German processor in my brain has already shut down for the night, so I'll leave it to the more proficient to follow up on that.)

Michel is definitely a lot more detailed. That helps a lot. I have older volumes of Michel for German Specialized and Eastern Europe but not South and Central America. I might have to find a used one on eBay.
