Reviving this country !!
"Hekla is a stratovolcano in the south of Iceland with a height of 1,491 m (4,892 ft). Hekla is one of Iceland's most active volcanoes; over 20 eruptions have occurred in and around the volcano since 874. During the Middle Ages, Europeans called the volcano the "Gateway to Hell".
The VEI 4 eruption started on 29 March 1947 and ended on 21 April 1948. It is likely that this was both the second greatest lava eruption of Hekla whilst Iceland was inhabited and the second greatest lava eruption in the world in the period 1900–1970.The eruption occurred over a century after the last eruption of Hekla proper, the longest dormant period since 1104."

Iceland King Christian IX Issue, 1902-1904These are the top three values in this set of 13 definitive stamps. I also acquired these at the Aix market in 2018. All examples shown below are perforated 13 and watermarked Crown (Scott Wmk 113). Sc 44, 1-krona slate blue & yellow brown Sc 44A, 2-kr olive brown & bright blue Sc 44B, 5-kr orange brown & slate blue Note: I am 98% sure that these are CTO examples, but I am not sure how much that affects their value. Any comments are welcome!

I just got the news today from Linn's that Iceland will discontinue new issues after October. I had heard this was being discussed, but it's a sad day for collectors.

I have to admit that I have mixed feelings about this. I sometimes wish that the glut of new issues would be sharply curtailed, but this step seems extreme. So what will they use for postage? Will the current definitive series be reprinted until the cows come home?

The Linn's article indicated the officials believe they have a sufficient supply of stamps and may reprint current issues as needed.

Received this week, the Christmas 2020 issues from Iceland. With the recent announcement that the Icelandic philatelic service is stopping its activities, maybe these are the very last ones?
