These stamps feature Paris scenes and were issued in 1942 to aid artists. Londonbus showed different colours and an imperf of the Napoleon's Tomb stamp in an earlier post. Paris 1942 by Daniel, on Flickr

Daniel, these are beautiful. I've always loved looking at older French engraved stamps. The different shades of blue in these really bring out the details.
Thanks for sharing.

These are examples of French lottery tickets with lottery stamps affixed. They are most attractive when depicted together. danielNice...even more attractive if they were the winning numbers..........

These are two series of poster stamps celebrating Jeanne d'Arc, Joan of Arc, born in 1412 and executed in 1431. The first set, probably missing at least one, was issued in 1909, the year of the Beatification of The Blessed Joan of Arc. The other date shown is 1456 the year of her, posthumous, retrial in which Jeanne d'Arc was declared innocent. As can be seen the stamps depict a statue of her by French sculptor Charles Desvergnes. In the bottom margin it states 'Marcel Marron Editeur d'Orleans'. Marron was marketing various sizes of this staue for Desvergnes in 1909 so these must have been advertising labels for that purpose. The second set is from or at least associated with La Belle France series, both produced by the Vaugirard Printing Works. This was a very large series produced from 1925 to the 1930s. Originally in monochrome sheets of 20 in 5 different colours. Scan_20200728 by Daniel, on Flickr Scan_20200728 (2) by Daniel, on Flickr

Some more French Lottery stamps. You will see that they are all numbered 000,000 so, they weren't used in any lottery. Elsewhere, I have seen them described as printer's samples. They date from 1942 to 1945. The early ones have a bank note type engraving. (no winning numbers here). Scan_20200731 (5) by Daniel, on Flickr

A few Foire de Paris poster stamps. The first one has no date and may be a proof, the other 2 are dated 1925 and 1928. The fair is usually held in April/May, from 1924, in the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Centre. The miniature sheet, available in other colours, is for 1942. Supposedly cancelled due to the war, Foire de Paris postcards, with or without one of these stamps affixed, have been seen with a Salon de la Philatelie, Paris 1942 postmark with the date of 16 Oct 42. I now believe that the Foire de Paris did take place in 1941 and 1942 but because it took place under the Vichy Government, it is being denied. Scan_20200731 (6) by Daniel, on Flickr

Another example of a French Lottery Ticket I'm presuming?

In my Foire de Paris post, a couple of posts above, I mentioned that the 1942 stamps from the sheetlet were used on Foire de Paris postcards for a philatelic exhibition held despite the Foire being supposedly cancelled due to the war. Here is such an example, shown front and back for the Salon de la Philatelie, Paris 9-26 Oct 1942 on a Section Philatelique 1942 Foire de Paris postcard. It bears a hand stamp for the salon and has the salon postmark, dates 22nd October 1942, also on the postage stamps on the other side. The Foire de Paris poster stamp is upside down and not cancelled but I'm sure its use is contemporary having seen several other postcards of this type. Found in today's sorting- 1969 Fiscal Revenue Test Stamp/ Cinderella- there are apparently a number of different colors based on some closed autions I saw Bernard Palissy, a Huguenot potter noted for his porcelain pieces, often referred to as rustic pottery, (and often ofanimals on platters....?) He was a Protestant and during the French Wars of Religion, he was imprisoned for his belief and sentenced to death and died of "poor treatment" in the Bastille in 1589 or 1590 (some disagreement as to when he finally wasted away....)

i'm guessing this is a Cinderella and what little I found, it maybe a stamp to show payment for a museum ticket (the one reference was a 5 F stamp, almost the same design) but the one answer seemed more like a guess... any ideas

Hi, Stan ( stainlessb )! I just did a quick bit of research, and it appears that "Le Demeure Historique" is the name of an enterprise in Paris. They are specialized in the management of historic sites, monuments, and tourist attractions, and of course, there is no shortage of those around Paris! The stamp is a very nice item! Xavier ( hrdoktorx ) or Michael ( Londonbus1 ), does one of you have any idea about this?

daniel, thanks for your post, and shame on me for not doing a better job of checking things out before making my earlier post.... and I can read French, too! You are quite right, of course. It is always best to go directly to source websites for information on enterprises, rather than other websites that don't tell the whole story. I will edit my previous post and remove the link to the other website. Thanks again, Daniel! -Chris

Chris, Beryllium Guy , no shame or criticism intended on my part. You pointed out the nature of La Demeure Historique. I was simply offering my opinion as to the nature of the stamp. Also, of courese, I'm sure they don't issue such stamp receipts any more.

Todays fun find. I was remove stamps from some pages and there are some in sheet protectors. There was a page behind a page and these were on it and a 1947 France airmail stamp in mounts. Neither of these shown had any identification or notes,

The French perfume company Coty was founded in Paris in 1904 by François Coty. It is a now an American multinational company. This is an early proof of a packaging seal showing the Coty heraldic shield. Other colours were available but I chose this one since it shows the purpose of a proof, that is, to find any printing flaws and this is known as a die proof which are taken from the original die or printing plate. In this example, flaws have been detected in the borders and duly circled in red indicating that the die or printing plate needs to be improved. The seals have been punched to invalidate them. The lower panel would be overprinted with descriptive information. Scan_20210129 (2) by Daniel, on Flickr

Another set in the series La Belle France from Helio-Vaugirard, Paris. This set appears to be Series VI, La Pyrenées (Côte Basque) colour blue, but with the red Lutte Anti Cancereuse (Fight Against Cancer) overprint (full set of 20).

Found, yesterday, tucked inside an old book on our Barcelona thrift shop: Details from a late XV century Flemish embroidery at the Paris' "Cluny Thermes" Museum
Actually, nobody cares about these items and there's no customer interest. So, I gladly took it home!

Well-designed Poster Stamp for the long-running Bordeaux Fair. No year inscribed but I am guessing 1920's-30's.

A partially complete booklet for the Société Française de Secours aux Blessés Militaires des Armée de Terre et de Mer (The French Relief Society for the Military Wounded of the Army and Navy) founded in 1864 and now known as Croix-Rouge française the French Red Cross. They issued several booklets in the early 1910s and there were 2 booklets issued depicting Paris scenes in 1913, this is the second one. It contains 11 of the original 20 stamps. (There is some duplication of stamp images due to some partial panes, the stamps are Machin size)
