The 'Exposition de Lourdes' Poster Stamps below show the Sanctuaires Notre-Dame de Lourdes which is visited by Millions of pilgrims each year to drink or bathe in the Lourdes water from the Grotto of Apparitions. The water is said to be a source of great healing . Interesting fact: With so many visitors each year to this small town in the Pyrenees, the number of Hotels per square kilometre is second only to Paris in the whole of France!!

3 years ago my wife and I spent our vacation in the Pyrenees and we visited Lourdes, too. The whole complex was very impressive but the most impressive for us was the underground church "Basilica Pius X" with a capacity of 25,000 visitors. I also drank from the water and touched the Madonna and I also lit a candle and wished for a ... Bavarian "Schwarzer Einser", but it didn't help up to now. Obviously the Madonna was not a stamp collector

cara ....Lourdes does sound like an interesting place to visit, I was reading all about it yesterday. Fascinating. I have added it to my list of 'places to visit' post-Covid ! In the meantime, Paris ! In particular the Eiffel Tower. These tourist labels have been shown elsewhere, at least the postcard has. I added it again here as we are in France just now ! The various tourist labels come in different colours. I just picked up a set (?) of the Eiffel Tower. I have yet to find a comprehensive list of these which date from the 1950's. The information 'stamp' seen on the card gives info about the Eiffel Tower. Note the lack of postage and the subsequent 'T' for the postage due ! This German tourist did not get away with it, apparently !

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

This is another Cinderella I came across while visiting my France collection. This one is from the 1906 Exposition Coloniale Marseille. I see similar for sale on eBay but none with this red overprint.

Raymond Moretti (1931-2005) was a renowned French abstract painter. He painted many Jazz musicians and produced lithographs, magazine covers and postage stamps.
This folder, produced for the Association of Interior Designers, Societe des Artistes Decorateurs (SAD), for their exhibition at the Grand Palais in Paris from 22nd November to 15th December 1985.
The sheet of Cinderella stamps was printed using thermographic printing, that is, raised printing without using engraving or embossing as used on business cards etc.. It depicts his version of the famous Albert Einstein photograph taken by Arthue Sasse in 1951 with Einstein sticking out his tongue. Behind him is the Grand Palais.

Michael ( Londonbus1): These Cinderellas of the Paris Stamp Market are great, thanks for posting them! I had not realized that there were four different colors. Seeing them brings back memories of going to the Market a couple of times and getting your help with my Newsletter article about my first visit. I hope that you will be able to go to a market somewhere before too awfully long!

GUANO DE POISSONS
A recent French Cinderella intended for my Oranges Philately collection which promotes "fish guano" available from a French importer. The design makes me think of a Pacific island setting such as Tahiti, or ?
This item has seen better days, but it is the best example (and only example) I have seen.
(Fish droppings fertilizer is a bit hard to comprehend. Perhaps the use of "guano" is a generalization of fertilizer made from fish.)

JeffS , that's a very interesting Cinderella. This is my understanding, guano comes from seabirds and bats. Guano de Poisson is not that type of guano. Rather, it was produced from fish offal but still resulted in a fish powder that was as rich as Peruvian guano. At some point from the late 19th century fertiliser produced in this way became a major industry in France. See this link. I couldn't trace E Bécot & Fils but I found this piece of ephemera on an auction website: It reads: 'This fertilizer, the richest of those currently manufactured, truly contains, we guarantee, on invoice, the elements of origin of ocean fish'. The ingredients are listed as follows: Fish nitrogen. Phosphoric acid from fish bones. Pure potash. Organic matter. Iron in combination. Fish offal couldn't be transported very far before becoming unusable so factories were located near the coastal fishing ports, see this link showing a poster for a rival manufacturer. I hope this helps, Daniel

daniel You are indeed a master sleuth. Thank you so very much for this information. I spent 3 hours this morning with a few cups of coffee and was surprised to find so much online on guano philately, as well as the history of the guano industry.

Okay, it looks like I will have to give up that title. Being somewhat dissatisfied with my explanation, I did some more research and I am now happier with the amended version based on this evidence 😳 (not clear but that's supposed to be an embarrassed emoji). Sorry, Daniel

So from what I understand. This page was part of a publicity book. Once the page was filled with cinderellas, it gave the right to gifts. In this case this cinderellas represents the sower, an emblem often used on our coins and stamps.

Here is another sheet issued during World War II. This one to aid intellectuals in Paris. Issued in 1943 and printed by Institut de Gravure and depicting various artworks. A very nice imperforate sheet, probably produced in a variety of colours.

Les Ailes Brisées (The Broken Wings in English) is a French Association and recognised as a public utility since 1928. It was founded in 1926 on the initiative of five airmen injured during World War I to aid men injured in air service and to their families and to honor the memory of those who died in aviation.
Here are two items issued for the association to raise funds. Firstly, a strip of 5 Cinderellas issued in 1937, from a set of 10, featuring famous aviators who had died in combat (with the exception of Louis Blériot who had died the previous year); Louis Blériot, Georges Guynemer, Adolphe Pégoud, Roland Garros and Charles Nungesser. The Association insignia is shown depicting a dead bird, wings extended and head hanging down.
The second item is a postcard for the Exposition de Souvenirs Aéronautiques et de Poste Aérienne, Paris (Exhibition of Aeronautical and Airmail Memorabilia) organized for the benefit of Les Ailes Brisées relief fund. The large charity stamp honours Lieutenant Colonel Jean Dagnaux who was a much decorated flying ace killed in action in 1940. The stamp has a high donation value of 30 francs.
