We saw in thestampforum.boards.net/post/67181/thread how Mauritius is attempting to claim Tromelin island in the Indian Ocean which is currently administered by France and is part of the TAAF, in the "Iles Eparses" archipelage (The Sparse Islands). Next chapter in that story are these new TAAF issues, including the block showing the installation of a solar power plant to be able to maintain the meteorological station on the island.  For good measure, I added a couple more stamps with maps (loosely defined) on them from this year's batch of issues. |

Joint France-Africa cooperation issue, from 1964. I particularly like the way Africa came out on these stamps, with the main rivers and mountain ranges. You rarely see a map like that at the continental scale for Africa.  Other issuing countries were the Central African Republic, Congo (Brazzaville), Gabon, Madagascar, Mauritania, Niger, Sénégal, Chad and Togo. Still on the lookout for those! |

I've posted the cover on which this stamp is already, but it really belongs in this thread. Nicaragua Sc#C187 from 1937. Neighbouring Honduras took serious umbrage to the large swath of their territory that was indicated "en litigio" (in conflicted claim).  |
