Maximum Concordance "Maximum Card" Arguably ending the "Cold War" one of the great World "positive moments" in history. George Bush / Mikhail Gorbachev The meetings took place on board the Soviet cruise ship SS Maxim Gorky in St. Paul's Bay ? (Postmarked St. Paul's Bay) 2/12/1989

The Summit took place in Marsaxlokk Bay: "Marsaxlokk Bay hosted one of the most remarkable meetings between heads of state in modern times. Here, aboard a naval ship, the Bush-Gorbachev summit between the Soviet and US leaders symbolically ended the Cold War, having been switched from Valletta for security reasons. In rough weather, the meeting, dubbed the "seasick summit", was held in the bay between the Freeport and the power station on 2-3 December 1989." (from Globetrotter Travel Guide: Malta, page 74) Here is a story about how the stamp was put together: www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20091011/letters/producing-a-stamp-in-record-time.276914

Excellent! Thanks Jaycee. I wonder if that makes the Postcard "Maximum Concordance"? being postmarked at St. Paul's Bay which is North West or completely the other side of the Island.
Look a little North West of St Paul's Bay, and one can see where Popeye was born.
Anyone game to suggest how to pronounce Marsaxlokk ?

Anyone game to suggest how to pronounce Marsaxlokk ? If you're wondering about the "x", Wikipedia's article on Maltese says it's like the "sh" in "shade". Ryan

More Postage Due - SGD 11-20 (Removed photos of Malta postage due stamps) These are some of the nicest looking postage due stamps around, in my opinion. Thanks for sharing, Falschung! You have some really nice copies there.

Here is the first Malta page from my brown Scott Int'l 19th Century album. I need to see what other stamps I have (if any), but I was able to acquire a nice set of the early issues which is shown in the photo.

I am particularly interested in errors and varieties from the 1965 definitive set. I will post some images one my image host account is up and running but I cannot believe that a reputable printer like Harrison & sons can have made so many mistakes. Does anyone know the story behind it?
