Somewhere in my crowded stamp closet there is an Austrian play postage stamp, ah yes here it is: I wonder how many Austrian adults today can trace their grandparents' letter-writing skills to the originator of these fine specimens.....

My contribution to this thread: A "Kinderpost" (children's post) window cover "mailed" probably from a classroom, the "stamp" resembles the Germania definitive series popular in Germany in the early 20th century. Likely aided school-aged children in how to send business letters, in this case with an R-etiquette (mock registration label) and a made-up German Bank as the return address. I think I posted this elsewhere (on Philaseiten.de, a German-language site with translatable options in the pull-down menu) a few years ago. Can't remember for sure, but I likely picked up the "cover" in Germany at a stamp show or dealer's box somewhere, probably for less than a couple Euros. This cover for me at least, epitomizes my stamp collecting interests: unusual, thought-provoking, research-inducing, inexpensive, serendipitous (is that even a word....!?!), and somewhat uncategorizable! --Jim

In one of my accumulation purchases I received an uncancelled cover with this stamp on it.
