Randy Harper is a pen name I have used for many years. I use it on many sites. I have exhausted a lot of material from Cuba and I don't seem to be barking up the right tree. Going back to the Belgian hunch. I think that will be a better track.

I sure do appreciate being able to put these pieces of paper in their place! (literally) - thanks as always - Jeff

Top stamp is too new to be listed in the 2016 Scott catalog, and it also has yet to be assigned a Scott catalog number as of the 11Jan2016 issue of Linn's Stamp News. It was issued on 24Mar2015. It should appear the next time Scott updates the Great Britain listings, as the last update for the Machins just happened to cut off in February of 2015.
Can't tell if the bottom stamp is water-activated or self-adhesive, so in 2016 Scott catalog, either: Great Britain #3119f(6Nov2012) for water-activated, photogravure, $2.10 used Great Britain #3125(6Nov2012) for self-adhesive, photogravure, $2.10 used Great Britain #3125a for self-adhesive, lithography, $4.50 used

Thank you khj. bottom one is self adhesive (crappy scan) and face valued at 1 pound 28 so it should be #3119. Thanks for your time with these. It is sincerely appreciated. One put away and one still hanging on the laundry line til Scott's gets around to numbering it..... Thanks again

You're quite welcome, Jeff.
The new issue listings appear every 3rd issue of the month. But Scott doesn't update every country each time. So it might still take a few months. But it should be soon, as it is getting close to 1 year since it was first issued.
If I remember, I'll try to check for you. If you want, you can remind me during the middle of each month, in case I forget.

Sorry Jeff, I just realized I messed up my ID post above, including typing in the wrong Scott number and leaving out a listing. Since your stamp is self-adhesive, it will either be 3125 (photogravure) or 3125a (lithography). You will need to check to see if your stamp was printed by photogravure or lithography. Sorry about that. I have already corrected the typo and omission in the above ID post.

This is probably a very common stamp, but I could not identify it with my (limited) resources. Can someone point me in the right direction? I'm pretty sure that it is Chinese, but that is about as far as I have got.

You are right, it is Chinese. The Sun emblem helps identify it is as a Republic of China issue. In the Scott catalog, China (ROC) #630(Dec1945).

Many thanks once again, khj and falschung. I think that the time has definitely come for me to invest in some good catalogs. Up to now I have just being relying on stampworld.
(Of course the above stamp is indeed there, but I was looking under the People's Republic, not thinking to look at earlier issues.)

Mick ask at local library they replace their Scott catalogs every so often and sell the used copies some what cheaply.Saves a bit on shipping if you can do that.I confiscate Mom's outdated W/W sets of Scott's.If you lived closer I'd give them to you.Not worth shipping they are old and I'm third owner.

Can't help much with this, but I'll have a stab..... Could this be a Czechoslovakian UNESCO issue; but a label which has been detached from the stamp (there's no value indicator)?
Oops. Didn't see Falschung's post.

Hello Guys, I need your help to ID this stamp, I think it is a Cinderella or a private stamp of some kind .There is no country name written on it, only the crescent Star on the Middle upper part which is similar to Turkish&Ottoman Empire Star&Crescent, it also has part of a Christian Cross black mark overprint inverted. This stamp has baffled me for the past year going back and forth trying to figure it out. Although Arabic is my mother tongue I have not been able to read the script correctly (Right to Left) since it is written in old Arabic calligraphy and the first couple of letters are covered by the cross mark which made it impossible to make sense of the readable part . I looked up thousands of Ottoman Empire, Afghanistan and old Arab world stamps and nothing resembles this. The script is similar to Afghanistan early issues from the late 1800’s but also no Luck. I also found minor script similarities with Jammu&Kashmir India stamps and some Arab countries. The visible last upper part of the script reads in two ways محصول (Tax in the old days) or مخصوص (Private) I showed the stamp to a friend who is an Arabic calligraphy artist, he also failed to read it correctly. I even went through the trouble of using APS ID service and ended up with a refund and No Opinion what so ever. I don’t know why I like this Stamp, but it is one of my favorites so far. Would be grateful for any new insights on this, at least to be able to read the script correctly will give me some satisfaction: p help

The stamp appears similar to the 1875 Turkish newspaper revenue shown in Forbin's catalog.

I'm glad to have been able to assist. Perhaps @falshung will be able to comment on whether it is real or a forgery.
I'd be interested in learning about the marking on the stamp as I find it quite impressive.
