Recently received this lovely post card from Jeff/ILS (no he wasn't attending the event!) from the 1908 Quebec Tercentennary celebrations, which includes a 1¢ commemorative stamp of the event (SC#97) with a nice three ring cancel. Coincidentally I was in my reading room this morning perusing a back issue of The Canadian Philatelist magazine (July/August 2013) and what should I come across but an article entitled "Politics and Patriotism - The Quebec Tercentennary Celebration". An interesting piece about the celebrations (attended by Prime Minister Sir Wilfred Laurier, The Prince of Wales (future King George V among others), the stamp issue (only three of the eight stamps in the issue had English related themes, but it was made sure that the most commonly used denomination, 2¢ domestic letter rate picture the British King and Queen), and souvenir post cards (among which is pictured another in the set that included the card shown below). Unfortunately because the magazine is still too recent, I can't add a link, and I am not a member of the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada, of which the publication is the journal of, but if you can get your hands on a copy, I highly recommend it. That said, if anyone else has material from this event, post it here, and lets see what kind of an 'exhibit' we can put together.
