Trying for a few days to get on the board, and it hasn't let me. Now all the sudden it lets me sign in... I couldn't even post as a "guest" on ProBoards support page! I have had trouble with this site since it was about a week old. I have no idea what is going on with it. I would love to contribute more, but the site doesn't co-operate. Simultanious vent/cry for help. Thanks Dave

After many attempts to sign in and/or contact people, I just sent an PM to ILS on the 'other' stamp board to ask for help. Jack doesn't take PMs from that board.... Thanks ILS, sorry to bother you. It let me sign in here right after I sent the PM

Can't add a pic now either. I click stuff, and it does nothing but take me back to the top of the page.

Tried to send a "Message", PM I suppose... It will let me do everything but enter a recipient. I click send, and get an error... "Must enter a recipient", however the spot that says "Recipient:", is blocked from me entering a name.

Ratio / Dave:
Thanks for your persistence!
I'm not a moderator, but someone who is should look at your membership status and make sure it's set like it is for the rest of us.
I'm sure someone who's actually in a position to help will be by soon.
Just sounds like some kind of fluke or bug, which I bet can be fixed really easily.
I wanted to acknowledge your posts, so you didn't feel like you were shouting into a black hole, and will try to keep an eye on this to see when a moderator responds.
Apologies,
(another) Dave

infact I'm getting a proboards error myself? I don't know whats going on? Try logging in and then save a page (whilst logged in) as your shortcut. Backdoor portal it's called.

Thanks ILS. I will try the Adobe thing. I keep my boards "backdoored" as you suggest. I was having trouble with this board keeping me logged in though. It's working for the moment.

Maybe it's just your browser or maybe your operating system? I don't really know what else to try Dave? Does it keep prompting you to log in or whats it doing?

Some of these issues sound similar to the ones I had when accessing the board from work using Firefox. Which browser do you use? Have you tried another?

If you want to pm someone instead of clicking messages click on the members list and go to that members profile. You will see a button for sending them a message, give that a try.

It leaves the recipient spot blank, and gives no way to fill it in. Same thing it does from the "Send Message" link.

Funny thing is that this board worked great for the first week or so. I remember it was when the world clock went up that I lost most function on this site. I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but it was a landmark change.

Until it let me sign in, it just kept making excuses for not signing me in, mostly saying I had the wrong password, when I didn't. When I tried the recover password function, it would just roll the page over (refresh), without actually doing anything. Kinda like the way it does when I try to "Like" a post or use the "Shout" functions. I click, and it simply refreshes the page, instead of doing what the button I clicked says. Basically the site is pretty much ignoring me in general. It is however, letting me post right now, and that's an improvement.

If the admin & mods can't figure out what's wrong with your account, I'm wondering if it would make sense to create a new account and try it out. If you don't have the same problems with it, then you know there was something about the permissions or status of the "ratio411" id. If you do have the same problems, then it sounds like it very likely has something to do with your browser or computer. (I know when I check in from my smartphone, I have less capabilities because Flash (or Shockwave?) isn't available for Android.)
As Zuzu suggested, you might also try a different browser and see if that makes a difference.
Just thinking out loud here ... I can imagine your frustration.

Hi Dave
When the board first went up I tried using it with IE8, WIN XP SP3. I had all sorts of problems. Don't use IE8 if you are. Since I am now using Chrome there hasn't been any problems. I am only using IE8 for sites that don't play nice with Chrome.

I have looked into your account, as much as a Mod can, and I can find nothing wrong there at all. Check your cookies settings on your browser is the only thing I can think of. Sorry.

Are you using a tablet or ipad? If so you might be using the mobile version of this board its a little bit more primitive. I have the same problems when using my iPhone with the mobile version. If that is the case on the bottom of the page you will see a button for desktop/mobile click desktop.

When this started (it hasn't always been), I went into those settings and gave this site "carte blanche"... I have all restrictions removed from this site, probably against better judgement.
