Overprints are so dangerous. And these look so nice. If ever there was a candidate for "Make these at home with no special equipment...'
But I'm weakening. Whadyathink?

Aaron ( kasvik ), thanks for your post. I can totally see why you would be tempted by these stamps. They look great, and I have long been a fan of the League of Nations overprints. There is, however, a reason why despite my attraction to these stamps, I don't have any yet. It's exactly what you are thinking.... you are unsure if the the overprints are genuine. This is always a problem with relatively common stamps that become much more valuable with overprints. It's a virtual certainty that someone will have faked them by now. I just spent 15-20 minutes doing online searches, though, and I didn't find much, but it's quite possible that I haven't chosen the right key words. If it is a reputable dealer selling them, and you have the option to return them if you notice anything suspicious, well.... I think I would probably get them. Best of luck with whatever you decide!

This has to be the most supercilious card I've ever bought. Seller's scan is enough, 'Just motored from Aix (-en-Provence?) to see the League of Nations building. Very hot Ford car &.... BTW (?)'. The recipient, Lady Ezra, Wikpedias; Rachel Sassoon Ezra, born Sassoon, wealthy Indian social and religious activist, with strong British connections, so no great surprise to see her staying at a trendy English resort hotel.
It's the elliptical League of Nations cancel that really got my interest. I thought unique League cancellations went away when the post office branch opened there, early on. Thus the Swiss Post normal branch cancels here, as expected. But this is even more curious, applied before the stamps and normal cancels. Any ideas?
(AHPS meeting 3 August 2024 agreed, it's a decorative non-postal cancellation by the tourist shop, then in Building A at the League HQ. Clearly done day of sale, just before the sender walked across the entrance to the post office branch office.)

kasvik Hi Aaron, Very hot Ford car &.... BTW (?)'. How about... Very Hot (full stop) "Fond Love and ?" DFW PS: I think "Droitwitch" was a Spa And this is even more curious, applied before the stamps and normal cancels. Any ideas?
We cannot see the obverse, perhaps it was a League of Nations Postcard, at point of sale, and all were struck with the oval cancel?

Hi Aaron, just noted the similarity of the writer's "To" So possibly "Fond Love to ?" (I guess the name was a "pet name" like "vette" for Evette ) Observations Aix to Geneva = 444 Km (The round distance I drive to go town shopping and get a hamburger) probably a lot more difficult in 1938 Lady Ezra was 62 years old at time of Postcard I have read her in Delhi, in May of 1938 handing championship cups, to Polo Players. Great Thematic Postcard for a "Girl Guide's" Thematic.

"Aix" most likely refers to Aix-les-Bains

Right, Lady Ezra was the kind of relative one would want to impress. Aix-les-Bains would be less dramatic, still a stretch, pre-motorway.
I like your idea of a non-postal mark by the seller. The card front shows the Palace of Nations, newly completed in 1938. Your handwriting interp certainly is feasible. When I turned to Significant Other, she suggested 'Very hot Ford car and wife.' Possible. But she knows how easily I'm entertained.

@kasvik Very hot Ford car and wife.'
Hi Aaron, I like it ! I can see "wife" in the scribble Alas, we shall never know.
Yes, we drive 250Km each way, to visit hardware (Home Depot type thing) cheaper medicines, car parts etc, and of course fast food. We have no fast food in our town, so it is a rare novelty.
PS: My older brother's best mate, had the very same 38 Ford, I have travelled in the "Dickie seat" as a 14yo, great fun.
