Canada was one of the early adopters of the personalized stamp craze, and in those early days was one of the few that actually allowed the custom image to be placed on the stamp, through the use of a small label that could be affixed to a standard frame (more recent issues have the custom image printed directly on to the stamp). Many other nations used a system where the postally valid stamp was separate from the custom image, which was attached as a se-tenant tab. Here are a couple of Picture Postage stamps I have recently come across. Murray Munsie has a site showing a collection of a large number of these personalized stamps, and TSF member BC also has a site for them. Ryan

One great thing about Picture Postage is that allows you to create stamps for events that Canada Post should have - like the 150th anniversary of the first individual stamps of Vancouver Island and British Columbia. I had these made.

Thanks Jen!
BTW, The cancels "35" represent Victoria, the capital of Vancouver Island, and "26" Fort Langley, the first capital of British Columbia.

Well they allowed me :-)
Since the stamps are no longer under copyright I guess it does not really matter. A few years back they did not even allow the reproduction of stamps on Picture Postage.
