Greetings to all here. I started pseudo-collecting when an aunt bought me a comb-bound Majestic world album in the 1950s and had me paste the stamps in place rather than use hinges like my cousin. He had to be superior, you know, and I didn't know the difference.
In 1972, my interest was self-piqued, and less than a year into my 6-year enlistment in the Navy, I bought two Harris albums , a U.S. and a world album. Things died off as my main hobby of electronics took front seat. Now, freshly retired, I decided I needed an extra hobby to help fill time, and decided to pick stamp collecting up permanently. Finding out that updating the old Harris U.S. album was going to cost a small fortune, I bought the 3-volume Majestic set for far less and have been buying mint and cancelled stamps off eBay and off to a great start.
I'll be having plenty of questions, so hope I don't cause the wheel to be re-invented too much.

Welcome to The Stamp Forum, ctm2matman! Your three-volume Majestic album, is that US or Worldwide?

The Majestic album is a comb-bound thing about half an inch thick for world and U.S. stamps, circa 1957. The three-volume U.S.-only set is made by Mystic, not Majestic. My feeble-minded error in the original post. Sorry!
