Edit for context, July 4, 2014: I'm not sure why but the original post appears to have been removed and has reappeared here. -------------------------------------------------------- It is too bad that Australia Post didn't provide a second cancel on the newly affixed stamps. Here are two of my favorite Australian FDCs: These stamps were part of a series of 17 issued between 1981 and 1983. All are perf. 13x13.5 except the 50c stamp which is perf. 12.5x13. Scott catalog numbers are: 5c (786), 25c (789), 30c (791), 50c (793) and 55c (794). This series of 4 perf. 15x14.5 stamps were issued on January 28, 1987. Scott catalog numbers are: 36c (1011), 55c (1012), 90c (1013) and $1 (1014).

Is that an actual cloth badge on the scout cover? It just made me curious - how many of us collectors were scouts? I was a girl scout and earned all the junior badges. We didn't have a Cadette troop though - no leader. Bummer. So how about you?

I cannot remember the last time that I received a local letter with cancelled stamps on it - AP is getting really slack!
For this reason I now see nothing wrong with the people that float off uncancelled stamps to re-use them for mail - a cover with uncancelled stamps is practically worthless.
The checking of mail is so poor these days that I have seen reported instances where people have used photocopied images of stamps for postage!

I was a Cub Scout, then a team leader in CEBS, Church of England Boy's society.

Right you are, I'll pop down to see my Postmaster, and see if he will give a favour / genuine receival strike.
I am going to adopt this behaviour, I have lots of FDC's and the envelope is heavy weight paper, great for stamp swaps etc.

I just got a recycled FDC with fresh postage affixed from an Ebay seller in Canada. It seems to be catching on!

Now my two daughters are Girl Scouts - a Brownie and a Junior. And I recently became the leader of both of their troops. :/ (Which is one of the reasons I haven't been around so much lately!)

I served ten years as a Webelo leader and asst pack master. As a youth I went through all ranks of cub scouting and two years in the boy scouts.my mother was a brownie leader and girl scout leader as there was no babysitter I was an honorary brownie and did all the projects.the one I remember was making fancy hats for dolls using those old paper milk bottle tops. Now I'm really dating myself.I wore the arrow of light as a cub scout leader having gone through the ritual myself in my day.
