Ok, so I am getting ready to finally do something with the 2011 stamps I bought from anpost and I had a few questions: The Year of Craft 2011 booklet....Are these kinds of stamp typically mounted with or without selvage? There is nothing on the selvage. it's just white. [IMAGE LINK BROKEN] Hermit Crab DefinitiveAnpost sold me a a verticle pair. Is there some value in collecting the pair? How much selvage should be kept around a self-adhesive stamp? Chirstmas 2011According to The Collector, The Christmas stamps were issued in the following format: 55c Self - adhesive promotional (26m), Self - adhesive strip of 2 (20k), SOAR strip of 2 (20k). Anpost sent me a pair of the self adhesive promotional, and a vertical strip of two rectangular stamps. Are the SOAR stamps the same design, just in a horizontal strip? The rectagular stamps do not touch, and the backing paper between them is connected, but is perforated. Should these stamps be mounted connected? 7th Definitive SeriesVertical strip with squirrel on top and dolphin on the bottom. Again stamps are not connected. There is selvage between them. Do most collectors mount them connected or split? I also have 8 stamps of a similar rectangular style to the vertical Christmas strip. Can these be seperated or should they remain conncted in the two strips of 4 that I got? [IMAGE LINK BROKEN]

A lot of your questions are personal preference. But, I wouldn't separate coil pairs or multiples. And I personally like the selvage and I never remove it. But it is your collection and the nifty part is you can do it your way. Oh boy, now I've got that song stuck in my head. LOL

Replied to the wrong thread with this...
So, against my better judgement, I posted a message on a certain stamp forum "down under" and actually got some good advice from someone else who collects Ireland.
Here goes:
1. The Christmas and Hermit crab stamps - no reason to keep them as pairs. Both SG and Hibernian list them as individual stamps. I cut each of them apart and am going to offer my extras for sale on this forum. Go check out the buy/sell/trade area if you're interested.
2. The dolphin/squirrel stamps - These are part of a coil and should be kept together.
3. The Art booklet - try to keep the booklet as intact as possible. So, I opened up the booklet and stuck it in a mount. Whole thing: stamps, selvage AND cardboard booklet.
4. The SOAR stamps. SOAR stamps are usually kept together, but that's not specified in any catalog. An Post sells them in strips of 4 when ordered from their web site, and most collectors just leave them that way.
SOAR stamps are "print on demand" postage that can have any value you want on them, or can be ordered in €0.55 or €0.82 printed values. My impression was that SOAR stamps were going to become the new definitives, since they're going to offer them in roles and in sheets.

It's funny how most people's preference will usually match the catalogue.
