Denmark, Sc232-272 King Christian X Era Arranged on Hagner Stock Sheet
This is the final page of the regular issues up to 1940, also just acquired from findings in mixed lots. As some of the stamps during this period were a larger size, I will probably need a different row-size stock sheet to display all of the issues correctly. Thanks again to Morten ( classicalstamps), who provided the inspiration for me finally to organize my Denmark after years of accumulating! Page 7: Denmark 1933-1940Row 1: Sc232, 234, 236-238 Row 2: Sc238A, 238B, 238D Row 3: Sc238G, 238J Row 4: Sc239, 240, 240A, 241 (Missing 242-243) Row 6: Sc246, 248-249, 251 Row 7: Sc254-255 Row 8: Sc268, 271-272

Thanks for the kind comments, Rene ( renden)! All of the ones I have shown here, apart from Morten's ( classicalstamps ) giveaway, were acquired from WW mixed lots and old albums, and the earliest ones from a small collection on two album pages that I bought at the Charing Cross Collector's Market in London. I am thinking to take a look on Hip Stamp to try to fill some of the remaining spaces, or see if I can do some trading with other Forum members.

Lots of Denmarks there but the ones I need are a little $$$$ Feel free to send me a PM with your want-list of the pricey stuff. Then I'll check my duplicates. If I have something you need, we can work out a trade per-catalog value. I can use almost anything pre-1940.

Copenhagen's Central Post Office, from the 1915 printing, with tiny 14x14.5 perfs and the cross watermark (looks like a primitive swastika to me). High value, only 173,000 were banged out, including both types. I assume most were used on big parcels and ground to trash or at least appropriately crinkled/scuffed. You can imagine how I took notice when Jay Smith advertised this one.
The date part of the cancel I get. Any idea what the numbers to the right and bottom of the cancel might mean?

The date part of the cancel I get. Any idea what the numbers to the right and bottom of the cancel might mean? The 1 1/2 -5 -E is the time slot 1.30-5 afternoon (Eftermiddag). The “B.” Signifies it was handled at the Banegaardspostkontoret, i.e. the central railway station PO. And the “16. -- 16.” is the number of the cancelling desk. It would allow the inspector to identify the clerk on duty in case there was an irregularity.

Well, I have to say thanks to Alex ( vikingeck ) for the comprehensive reply to Aaron's ( kasvik ) question. Great stuff! I felt sure that the figures to the right of the date had to be a time indicator, but it just didn't make sense to me with the 1½ and the Ɛ, which looked more like a backwards 3 than an E to me. Thanks to Alex's explanation, the whole thing wasn't so complicated after all, but it clearly took the knowledge and experience to be able to readily interpret it. I can't ever recall having seen 1½ Ɛ to indicate 1:30pm before, but now I am glad to know that this is what it means. I will be on the lookout for it. It's great to learn new things here on the Forum. Great stamp and postmark, Aaron, and great response by Alex! Stay stampy, all!

I can't ever recall having seen 1½ Ɛ to indicate 1:30pm before, I guess if you have to have an incomplete hour " 1½" takes up less space than "1:30" & E or Ɛ less than P.M. . Morning time slots in Denmark are distinguished by "F" Formiddag before midday. Like this one you posted on page 1 More recently they use the 24 Hour Clock And That was my 1000Th post. !

Denmark, Sc97-137 King Christian X Era Arranged on Hagner Stock Sheet
Since completing a recent trade with Morten ( classicalstamps ), I have now been able to add further to this page, featuring one of my favorite long-running definitive sets, which totals 35 stamps in all. Thanks to the recent acquisitions from Morten, I am now only missing the two highest values. Thanks, Morten!

This page now has a lot more stamps as well. Some of these also came from Morten ( classicalstamps ), but others were retrieved during my time back in California in December and January. This page is looking a lot more respectable now! Thanks again, Morten!

The collector who owned one of the albums I am going through seemed to like collecting pairs of stamps where a large cancel straddled both stamps as below. This one is dated October 13, 1972 from the city of Roskilde and the stamps are Sc. no. 437A. This is dated March 9, 1967 from a town that I could not identify. I believe that some of the letters did not print and there may be a letter or letters in front of the V. The stamps are Sc. no. 438. This pair was cancelled exactly 55 years earlier than the first pair of stamps above. It is dated October 13, 1917 and cancelled in the city of Copenhagen. The stamps are Sc. no. 97.
