The Mid-Hants railway between Alton and Alresford was opened in 1865 and was run by the London and South-West Railway. After closing the line in 1975, the line was purchased from British Rail and was re-opened using Steam locomotives and run mostly by volunteers. In days of old, the trains would carry local watercress from Hampshire to the markets in London and it has been nicknamed 'The Watercress Line'. www.watercressline.co.uk/Many stamps have been produced since 1975 and mail carried between the stations. Souvenir covers and labels are available at the major stopping points en route. Here are a few sheets from the watercress Line. Londonbus1

I picked up a couple of these from Stampex. This is from the Nene Valley Railway depicting Thomas the Tank Engine. It is a signed imperforate limited edition. Signed by the artist Tony Theobold, from 1989.

Bluebell Line Bogus Essay Railway Letter Stamp I purchased this at the recent Stampex. The Bluebell Line in Sussex didn't issue any stamps like this. An interesting bogus issue. (I had wrongly placed this post in the Railway Parcel Post thread and I have deleted it from there and re-posted here )
