It's funny but more and more I have noticed I only buy harder to find or bigger ticket items from sellers that I have had good experiences with. As my collection grows, and the spaces I need to fill get narrowed down to the some of the hard to find items I tend to just search through the eBay stores in my favorites list hoping to see what I am looking for. I don't recall this being a conscious choice, but with all the shenanigans you hear about on eBay it just seems to be the way I have wandered.
I hope you can works things out somehow BC, good luck!

I politely reminded him it helps to mark things shipped.Adds a little credence to a story it got lost in transit, if it made it there.

Update
1) After the stamp first went "missing", and I got a refund through through Ebay Resolution. I told USSTAMPCO that if the stamp turned up on my end I would pay them back, and if it turned up on their end, they would give it to me at the selling price.
2) When I saw the listing May 29 (it was a quick 3 day sale) I immediately wrote USSTAMPCO and the "new" seller Katina4844 asking HOW the stamp sold to me has reappeared on Ebay.
3) I sent a message to Ebay through "Report this item" and also through Ebay Customer support.
I did all this before there was a single bid.
The two sellers are the same person; the description in the title was EXACTLY the same for both listings, AND the feedback on other items for Katina4844 says thank you for using U.S. Stamp Co.
So far, NO ANSWER from the seller (not suprisingly) or Ebay. I will give it a few days before posting this on all other major internet stamp boards.
The auction for the 5c blue Vancouver Island ended on June 1, and the stamp sold for about $49, $10 more than I paid.

We're all rooting for you to get that stamp......
Does anybody remember this site? looks like it's been about 18 months since last updated. It's amazing how many shysters work on ebay under different names and ebay is tacitly giving them the nod by weak enforcement.

Update:
I never heard from the seller, but today Ebay finally sent me an Email and has given me a telephone number to call them.
I will do that tomorrow and keep this forum informed.

Sorry for the delay in responding - I had to go to Montreal due to a sudden family illness, followed by a an out-of-town business trip.
I have to admit I was quite pleased with the results from eBay on the matter. While there is no way that I can get the stamp as it is now in the album of another buyer, the eBay representative assured me that this type of double selling was totally against the policy of eBay. She confirmed to me the stamps being sold were obviously the same, and they will investigate the sellers. Only two possibilities; the stamp was lost/stolen and resold by the finder, or the two sellers were the same (which in fact I know they are as mentioned earlier). She said eBay will investigate both sellers. She said eBay has full access to the messages back and forth between the first seller and myself, including the one where the seller (USSTAMPCO) says it was shipped, probably lost and would give it to me if it turns up.
It will be interesting to see what action eBay takes. Keep and eye on the sellers USSTAMPCO and Katina4844!

Hi Brian, uncomfortable to convict anyone without knowledge of all the facts, but looking at the Ebay feedback, and the 5 negatives, they are "howling", ....one to stay clear of. Interesting to see "trustworthy" in the preamble, what do they say about people who chirp "trust me" ? Chin up!, leave a negative feedback, and post more on The Stamp Forum. you may just get another stamp like it at a better price.

BC I hear and read so many horror stories like yours all from EBAY and the crooked sellers. That is one of the reasons why I DO NOT BUY from EBAY! It is not worth the hassle. One rotten Apple spoils the whole basket. But I just got burnt from a member on one of the Forums I belong to. (I'm not naming the Forum). The first time to get burn't by any Forum member. Most Forum members are way above board. The Forum Adms have a way of weeding them out. I will not let that one deal discourage me.An afterthought too. Sometimes we may feel we got a raw deal and the person on the other end may feel like what they did was fair. There is always two sides to every story.
BC With the store apparently going out of business. They may have gotten a better offer than $36 in the store for the stamp and so they sold it.
They say the biggest liars and crooks are Politicians and Car salesmen.

I am pretty leary about eBay as well. I'll take a gamble on some smaller purchases when I am filling gaps in my modern Canada with low cat value. For any of my bigger ticket purchases on eBay I tend to stick to a couple sellers whom I have had a lot of success with.
