Batum Scott No. 4 Batum Scott No. 17 Hi Brian, sadly I believe both your stamps may be forgeries. 1. "KA" not joined at the base (arguably on your Sc#17) 2. 7 pearls top of value tabletStanley Gibbons quotes "stamps are extensively forged" Here is some information, that may transpose to your material. Overprint comparison with early Stanley Gibbons Note the difference in distance between the "I" and the "T" Further investigation has me incorrect, the 1 Ruble does have 7 pearls We have to chase up our member Jim (jkblue) Blog He has extensive info bigblue1840-1940.blogspot.com.au/2011/03/batum.html

Batum Sc/SG #1 April 4, 1919. British troops occupied Batum form the end of WW1. In 1921 it became an autonomous republic within Georgia. These stamps have been forged extensively.
