Hello, everybody. Brief introduction: beginning collector of United States stamps. Also collect Canadian. Looking to mke friens and share advice on stamp collecting Welcome Rockaway, hope you enjoy your stay. Advice? If you are beginning to collect US, it can be rather daunting. (If you can afford it) buy Bill Steiner's Album pages (about $39 for the whole world) it mimmicks the Scott Catalogue, and makes it easy to locate and mount your US stamps as they come along You should be able to collect the majority of middle US years for absolutely nothing, the stamps abound in duplication with collectors here, you will only have to pay shipping. Good Luck.

You've chosen a good place to start. Old US stamps (pre-1930) tend to be expensive, and those after 1995 tend to be pricey, too, if they are interesting commemoratives. But all stamps in between are quite affordable, with mint examples normally being less than face value. The forum is a good place to post your want lists.

Welcome, rockaway1! Looking forward to your posts. I collected just US many years ago, but couldn't resist all the stamps from other countries that came my way, so ended up collecting worldwide.
