Rod, is that S/S actually inscribed "your free gift" printed on the S/S?

Rod, is that S/S actually inscribed "your free gift" printed on the S/S? BCHello Brian, No Sir, the package (Gibbons Free Stamps) comes in a clear polypropylene envelope, with a stiffener/advertising card. That is what you see. Always (naturally) the low values in a set, as a teaser.

Anybody have information on what were once issued as "Polynesian Airlines Souvenir Covers." They were used by Nelson Eustis for various Pacific Islands ad featuring the stamps of that Island.

angoreYou have nice pages and Cook Island stamps - one good memory of a trip to Polynesia (french) and a 48 h cruise to Rarotonga, Cook Islands (NZ). Did some snorkeling there and also in Bora Bora René

If you like the Cook Islands go check out Aitutaki atoll. It's a hour or so flight from Rarotonga. Beautiful lagoon with a giant clam farm in the middle of it. Had a small shark swim between my legs at the resort we were staying at. A special delicacy is a Mud crab, just make sure you are at a resort that has a true Cook Islander cooking it.
THE CI are my favorite vacation location. Many great memories of the islands.

I used to collect the CI stamps but have stopped now that they are made by an American company based in Massachusetts I think. I will probably go back to getting more older ones for the memories.

Fun to read about the Cook Islands in this Forum - Good to have new info but I will never go back on a trip - too far and in the coming 2 years travelling to such exotic destinations from Eastern Canada is hard to imagine - 13 hours to get from Montreal to LA to Tahiti - did it - happy - never going back - these trips are for the young ones !!
