I ran into a problem trying to organize those crazy overprinted ohms, perfed ohms, and over printed G issues. When I re-mounted before I had left them on the minkus pages but now trying to get them where they belong. It made no sense to have them all grouped together in certain places as they weren't released or even issued in that order. If that makes sense.Hopefully I now have them in some logical order.Later overprinted G issues I mounted after regular issues and at some point I may go back and do the same with early 5 hole perfs. Has anyone else attempted to discern release dates for some of these?? Unitrade only gives span of years used not date of first use.

The way that I organize my official stamps is to store them next to the regular stamps from which they are derived. I find this much more practical for my purposes.

Yes that's the way I am now.I am really confused at the moment as I am into the 1950-54 years.I must get two albums out now to see if I have duplicated some as the break between volume two and three is 1951 and 1952.To top it off I seem to have not left any room for my used blocks of any of the Officials after 1952.Maybe next life I'll be smarter. Those who do not follow Canada the officials for one stamp can encompass perforated OHMS,overprinted OHMS,overprinted G.Some of the early issues also were perforated with five holes in the vertical bars of OHMS or four holes the fives being the more desirable.

And don't forget the varying styles of "G" overprints - Flying G and all that lot. On the overprinted OHMS, there is an overprint variety with the final period missing after the S - that's a rare variety and extremely expensive on an already expensive stamp like the 50c logging issue. And on the small KGVI with OHMS overprint, there are spacing varieties in strips of three - you can get strips where the spacing between overprints is different on the left two stamps than it is on the right two stamps. Fun stuff, if you like varieties (and judging my your collection pages you've been posting, you do). Ryan

Thanks for the re-enforcement Ryan.I believe it's one of the reasons I keep going on Canada. There is just so much to try and find it is an endless quest into the stamp world all in one area.My collection as large as it may be only scratches the surface.Take for example my weak private perfins while a growing bit all the time I only look for one example of each stamp. The specialist in this area will hunt for all positions of each perfin(eight of each)Then we won't even get into the first page of Newfoundlands or the airs from there. The semi airs, the revenues, the cindys etc. Two lifetimes and a bottomless wallet would probably not be enough to say complete.

I agree frog. I don't consider anything "Back of Book". I mount everything by the year of issue, whether it is commemoratives, airs, officials, etc.
Though I subscribe to Steiner pages, I just use them as a guide. Steiner follows the BOB method of Scott.

I don't do back of book. I do back of year. So each year has a section for commemoratives, definitives, airmail, semi-postal, etc. I always hated the way album did a back of book section. Almost felt like airmail stamps were not worthy to be mounted with your "real" stamps.

Question if we the general collector sees things this way why do publishers insist on their way??BC do you think my idea of adding revenues in their timeline with the regular issues is over the top?? I am strongly leaning this way,if you look at 1864 should not the first issue of bill stamps appear there say right after first cent issues?? Makes sense to me some how.

Hi
My organization is sort of half and half. I do what Andy does. If a set has airmails then the regular issues and airmails go together. In general the back-of-book is separate, except for Colombia SCADTA registration stamps that go with the air mail stamp(s) that were overprinted.
As an aside. If one notices Scott pretty much lists air mails with the regular issues lately, at least for my bailiwick of Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela. Over the years I have found that Scott is not very consistent.
In the Colombia and Venezuela catalogs I have, the organization is by year, regular issue and air mail together. However, issues like states, telegraph, etc.. are in a separate section.

I treat revenues as BOB. I am not an avid revenue collector so it is easier to keep them separate from my regular stamps.
