Normally, I might soak a stamp or three, but this one probably should stay together. A Geneva permit for an egg peddler in 1933. The front has a 3fr stamp with the photo and info, and the back has boxes for each month, with a 5fr stamp each month. This particular piece has two different versions of the 5fr stamp.

Here is the back of the above piece: A nice amalgamation of cancels and stamps from two different series. I'm guessing he purchased the permit in March, paying the 3fr tax, and immediately paid the 5fr for March, as the March cancel is the only one having a similar appearance to the cancel on the front. If anyone knows more on how these actually worked, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

Another Bill of Exchange. This time from Switzeland. Compagnie Viticole de Cortaillod in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, a vineyard, have issued this Bill of Exchange to Monsieur Fr. Rohrer, Wholesale WInes of Eiken, Switzerland. The total value is !,560.85 Swiss francs. The payment was facilitated through la Banque Cantonale Neuchâteloise. Three Swiss revenue stamps have been applied and stamped on the left. They are specific Bill of Exchagne revenue stamps for 10 centimes each, total 30 centimes, and are dated at the bottom 31 Mars 1933 as per the Bill of Exchange. They are cancelled with two Compagnie Viticole de Cortaillod handstamps.

Another Swiss revenue item. This time an Attestation from the Intercantonal Office for Drug Control, Bern from 22nd October 1951. It states that the pharmaceutical speciality "R 12" tablets from the house Doetsch, Grether & Co. of Basel, Switzerland is prepared in accordance with the laws in force. The Intercantonal drug office in Bern has authoried its sale in Switzerland. The formula is shown and it is signed by Jules Farine, director of the drug office.
The reverse shows the Legalisation. Hans Martel , doctor of law and notary confirms Farine's signature. Martel adds his handstamp and a 50 centime revenue stamp. A Christie signs on behalf of the Canton de Bern State Chancellory and a signature, M. Guriner, and a handstamp for the Federal Swiss Chancellory has also been added. Four further revenue stamps are added and cancelled totalling 7 Swiss francs. Finally, as was common for legal documents for this era, a foreign consulate, in this case the Cosulate General for Egypt in Bern, confirms M. Guriner's signature. They have charged 400 mills for their services. A very attractive document and, perhaps, a better way to collect revenue stamps.

While 'organizing" my recent France revenues, i noticed that this stamp in th eVario pages, didn't look like it belonged ther, and French it is not! Switzerland, the Canton of Ticino (Tessin) The translation I get (Italian) is Foreigner control... so I am guessing hterse were used on Visa's or something similar (?) Ticino is on the southern border across from Italy, and known for it's merlot wines! Now to decide what to do with them? Trade anyone?
