Thank you for that juicy bit of info. I noticed that those Special Delivery stamps are harder to get than the catalogue suggests. That's an incredibly low number. Do you know if they were they on sale in the Bahamas as well? I do have one of them

The Nina, Santa maria, and the Pinta Nina is recognisable as she has 4 masts, and is lateen rigged (Triangular sails) Colombus had these changed to square riggers in the Canary Islands The Santa maria was a "Nao" or cargo ship, not suited for exploration (according to Colombus) Most commonly heard comment on the Santa Maria..."Are we there yet?" Colombus' Log

Probably not many people realise the low numbers, hence the demand is low. I'd keep that for retirement.

GOD! how I hate that term 'Free Gift'! It's redundant, a gift is free by definition. And then they add 'with the compliments of...' just to emphasize the emphasis! OH, WHERE ARE THE LITERATE COPY WRITERS?!!!!!!!!!!
If I had hair, I'd pull it out.

Good Morning,
Researching and came up with this thread, but I didn't see what I wanted so my big question for day: I'm putting my Bahamas collection in order and in the Scott's catalogue, they usually have a picture of the different watermarks. But not for the Bahamas. Is there a website or should I be looking in another part of the catalogue for watermarks?
Thanks for your help

But not for the Bahamas. Is there a website or should I be looking in another part of the catalogue for watermarks? Thanks for your help Hello Reena, this is why we try at TSF, to keep posts under "Country specific" threads if possible, you found the thread and add to it, making the resource easy for those who come after. Thanks for that. Answer: I haven't checked as yet, but as far as I know, all British watermarks are in the Scott catalogue. See at the beginning of the Catalogue under "British Colonial and Crown Agents watermarks" If you have the 2009 Scott CD, you can print out the page, as a rolling reference to all your commonwealth stamps. Let me know if you still have problems finding them. Hope this helps

Thanks Rod, I'll check on that page when I get home from work today. I did get the album together with the cover sheet. I'll go back and check the wmk's.
Read the front of the book??? What a concept! This never entered my brain to check the front of the book. It's there! Thank you again, one thing I'll do when I'm confused is check there. You are the best.

The sixth stamp reminds me when I first started sailing over to the Bahamas. I fell in love with the islands. Walking up and down the main street, buy some sweet bread and settle on the boat with some fresh conch chowder. Those were the days.

I like the KGVI & early QEII definitives, and have a number of them from various entities. Bahamas versions are a fave for me. I recently bought a small lot that included 3 FDC's of the 1954 definitives. Unfortunately, the high values were not included. Perhaps they were out of reach for the collector at the time...
On examining these scans, it looks like the Queen is cock-eyed & in some - missing an eye in others. They are a very nice set though. The only ones of this type I am missing is the 'Bahamas Talks 1962' overprints of 1963.

Since we have so many beautiful stamps posted from Bahamas, I thought I would share a semi-postal, stamp being a type of 1911 and overprinted in 1919, Scott # B2 René

There are a number of interesting shades in the various Bahamas sets. I have tried to display them on some web pages which are based on the old Commonwealth Five Reigns Catalogue which was last published in 1980. If you collect either King Edward VII or King George V Bahamas, you might be interested in these pages.
