Hello, new forum member here saying hello. I'm a 45 year old married male living in Iowa in the American Midwest. Started collecting as a young child, but like many, dropped it for awhile have been seriously back at it now for about 3 years. My main collecting passion is Germany and all related areas, although I also collect most of Europe and a few other countries around the world on a more casual basis. I'm quite passionate about collecting as it is my main pursuit outside of work and family. Looking forward to meeting some new people and continuing my philatelic adventure and education here. Oddly enough, the generic avatar looks an awful lot like me as I have a completely clean-shaven head. I'm actually suspicious that the webcam on my laptop surreptitiously took a picture of me and posted it there.

Plenty of seats here, welcome to the forum. We are almost the same age, just a year younger then you.
As for your avatar you can pick anything you want, upload a stamp from your collection or just a mug shot of yourself and your dog will work.

Such a coincidence, just the other day I was reading up on the clavinet (the opening instrument on Led Zeppelin's "Trampled Under Foot"). Welcome! Ryan

Such a coincidence, just the other day I was reading up on the clavinet (the opening instrument on Led Zeppelin's "Trampled Under Foot"). Welcome! Ryan That's where I got the name from. It's what I wake up to every day on my cell phone alarm clock. Nothing like a good, funky groove to get the day started. And of course, what better way to start the day than with a little Zeppelin! I think the words "Mama, let me mount your stamps" is in the lyrics somewhere.

Welcome TUF. Ah, some Zep to start the day good choice. Keep rocking and collecting that's my thing too.Sorry I'm absent a bit of late. We like to banter here and tend to go off topic some, but no one pitches a fit bout it.Some of your other grooves???

Some of your other grooves??? I work in IT sales so I have an interest in technology in general (and I wish our hobby made better use of some of tools now available). I'm married with two step-daughters in their late teens/early 20's, so the shaving of my head prevents me from pulling my hair out. Other than that, I'm a typical nerd (a term I wear as a badge of honor) who likes nerdy things, like history, philosophy and science. It's a huge reason why stamps appeal to me as stamps offer a healthy dose of things like that. Stamps are the best and easiest way to own and study small pieces of other times, places and cultures, and they are endlessly fascinating to me.

I guess if you've been trampledunderfoot then you really are TUF (tough) so the abbreviation does work well
