For a good book on these issues, I recommend "Barquitos of Buenos Aires - Forgeries and Reprints" by Andres E. Gazzolo (2012)

Since classicalstamps has posted.....many years ago.......no action on these Buenos Aires stamps/reprints/forgeries. Having spent 4 hours reading on the various Forgeries on stampforgeries.com, I decided to scan my 5 stamps/reprints/forgeries and see if there is still interest - It would be nice to see the genuine stamps......I am a visual person......text by the author is appreciated as well as opinions on another site. I will not buy the book !! btw As one person said: These poorly made fakes were made for the approval business in the early 1960's . They sold for about 10 cents a set thru approvals from Zenith Stamps .Enjoy: Sc 1-7 (some specimens of 1858-59) - René

Here is a genuine one with a Moorhouse cert.: It is actually quite easy: always assume forgery unless accompanied by a certificate. I.e. never touch these without a cert.
