I posted this in the latest acq uisitions thread, but in the spirit of posting for posterity I thought I would start a thread on the US Post Office issues that were in conjunction with Philatelic Exhibitions.
First, Scott 1926 WHITE PLAINS PHILATELIC EXHIBITION SOUVENIR SHEET, Scott 630.
Next, a first day cover from that exhibit (which obviously never entered the mail system):

Quite a few members have joined our Forum since this thread was created so I'd like to give it a bump in the hope that others will add to it. Here is another example of Scott 630, the 25 cent, carmine rose, pane of 25 issued on October 18, 1926 at the United States' first international philatelic exhibition. I waited a long time before being able to add this to my collection.

A World's Fair was held in Chicago, Illinois, from 1933 to 1934, to commemorate that city's centennial. The fair was named "A Century of Progress International Exposition." On May 25, 1933, the U.S. Post Office Department issued two stamps to celebrate the exposition: a 1 cent green stamp depicting the restoration of Fort Dearborn (a pioneer outpost on the site of the city), and a 3 cent violet stamp featuring the new art deco Federal Building in Chicago (Scott 728 and 729, respectively). The American Philatelic Society held its convention and philatelic exhibition in Chicago during 1933. In compliment to that event, two imperforate souvenir sheets of 25 subjects each, replicating the Century of Progress issue designs, were issued under authority of Postmaster General Farley on August 25, 1933 (Scott 730 and 731).

The Byrd Antarctic Expedition of 1933 saw the issuance of a 3 cent, dark blue, perf. 11 stamp depicting a map of the World on van der Grinten's projection (Scott 733; October 9, 1933). The stamp's design was replicated on an imperforate souvenir sheet issued to commemorate the National Stamp Exhibition held in New York, N.Y. from February 10-18, 1934 (Scott 735: February 10, 1934). Plate number 21187 was used for sheets printed at the exhibition; however, all of those sheets were destroyed.

During August 1934, the American Philatelic Society held its convention and exhibition in Atlantic City, New Jersey. In conjunction with that event, on August 28, 1934, the U.S. Post Office Department issued an imperforate souvenir sheet featuring six, 3 cent purple stamps depicting Mt. Ranier and mirror Lake (Scott 750). The design of the stamps on this sheet was that used for the 3 cent stamp from the National Parks Year issue that was released on August 3, 1934 (Scott 742).

National Exhibition Issue, Type of Byrd Issue, Special Printings produced in response to the infamous uncut Farley sheets given to some government officials. Looks like Scott 768 block of 4 with crossed gutters. Oval cancellation, DENVER COLO. undated. Scan_20201222 (3) by Daniel, on Flickr

Let's give this thread a bump as 17 months is a long time to lay dormant. The Trans-Mississippi Philatelic Exposition and Convention was held in Omaha, Nebraska during October, 1934. This souvenir sheet, an imperf pane of six of the 1 cent National Parks Year issue featuring El Capitan in Yosemite (California), was issued on October 10, 1934 (Scott 751) in compliment to that Exposition.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

Today's collecting adventures sent me to the recently acquired United States album that went up to 1990. I knew before I started there would be little or nothing I would need because the collection was pretty weak on classics. I still went through it page by page searching for interesting cancellations. One of the few I decided to keep was this 1937 mini sheet from the 1937 Exhibition with a cancel from Detroit Lakes in Minnesota. It is a small town I had never heard of so it went in my USA specialty album beside my mint copy.

The 1947 CIPEX sheet is common enough, but this example is a bit more interesting with the signatures of those at the BEB who were involved in its plate creation:
R. L Miller, designer A. W, Christensen, lettering engraver Charles Brooks, portrait engraver Carl Auls, portrait and frame engraver
