Really cool, Rod. ("cool"? guess that dates me). Always liked the overprinted/surcharged stamps Britain issued for the Gulf states and the foreign offices. I have no clue for the fascination as they are fairly bland; maybe the exotic destinations? Whatever, nice post!

As in the previous post, Great Britain stamps of KGVI overprinted for use in Bahrain. Issued October 1950 in use until 1955. SG# 71-79 (missing 77).

Here is the first King George VI set from my collection. I am missing the upright watermark on the 15R value. Ironically, the inverted watermark is the more common one.

Where is rod222 when he's wanted? Gibbons had this Bahrain 1924 revenue 8a, by Waterlow and Sons. Not the first time one popped up here. But my goodness gracious; how perfect can they get? 'Lighly used' as the auctioneers say, with a tear bottom left and glue scuffs. Lost world. Feel the heat, the lanquidity? Makes me want to sweat, like a Conrad short story.
