A while ago, I got this sheet of Staffa bird stamps. I don't have much info on them other than the date of 1978 on the cancel marks.

I picked up a set of twelve FDC's of the Bicycle series of 1978. Here is just one of them. The stamps don't seem to match the cachet. The values range from 2p up to 1 pound.

By pure dumb luck I have never run into these "stamps" nor had I heard of a place called Staffa. It is amazing that one company or person produced so many colorful piece of paper and then charged money for them!! Wow this is not good for the hobby that is for sure. I missed that bullet and happy I did. Nick

Arms or Crest - Mendelssohn - A young Queen Victoria. Felix Mendelssohn's "Scottish Symphony" can be heard on you tube. He visited "Fingal's Cave" in 1829, (shown on the Label) Queen Victoria was a big fan. A descendent of the original owner Staffa Island, gave name to the "Port Maquarie" in New South Wales, Australia
