hello my name is Joe I am 24. I am an amateur artist and author of two books. I was an anthropology major and historic preservation major in college. I got into stamp collecting simply by collecting the stamps off of the Mail I was receiving from doing trades on baseball card sites.
I have amassed around 300 stamps old and new. Oldest being from an envelope from the 1860s.( envelope intact along with letter) also have a stamped postcard from the 1880s.
I have no idea about the ins and outs of stamp collecting but want to learn. I have bought hinges but have no idea what to do with them
Sorry for any typos I am on my phone

Joe, Welcome to the Forum! Feel free to post any questions that you might have as most, if not all, will likely be able to be answered by someone in the forum's membership. In addition to the resources on our forum, there are a number of other online resources that will be of help to someone like you who is relatively new to stamp collecting, such as that of the American Philatelic Society. Do you have a specific country focus with your collection?

Welcome Joe As Steve said ask any questions that you may have. There is no such thing as a stupid question. Have a read of old threads plenty of information
As for the typos you wont get into trouble here over a simple spelling mistake. We have members from different parts of the world so you may see some strange words or expressions in some of the posts.

It's all relative, Rod. And I certainly have relatives who are young!
