Hi Joe, Firstly, if you can remember, best to place your enquiry under the thread title of the country, otherwise students of the same country cannot benefit, (your enquiry and advice will be lost) this is not only a friendly stamp forum, but can be a resource library, for generations to come. So would have been best under United States : Classic. Your Bible for these would be "Scott Specialised catalogue of US Stamps and Covers" Prefix "U" are listed under "Stamped envelopes and wrappers" and priced as a "cut square" or an "entire" Try and source a cheap copy of the specialised tome, you shall be amazed at the depth of study of US material. Hope that helps. PS: Prefix "W" (Wrapper) Newspaper or Print Wrapper, are mixed in with the "U" listings when appropriate W366 reads 1899 W366 U79 2c Carmine, manilla, $8 $3.25 Entire $12 $6.50 (2004 catalogue) "U79" refers to the scott Image in the catalogue, with its particular print specifics. eg: U79 Washington stamped envelope, Bust points to the middle of the second notch of inner oval and is quite hollow below Queue has a ribbon around it.

The one you have pictured should either be U393 (blue) or U394 (blue, amber). I can't tell the difference in colours very well so I apologize for not being sure. In used condition it catalogues for $11 according to 2015 Scott catalogue.
P.S. it would fall under the category of Stamped Envelopes and Wrappers and the one pictured was issued in 1903.

Nice buy then! Perhaps consider sometime in the future, joining a local stamp club, these are fabulous places to pick up cheaper Catalogues. Good catalogues make stamp collecting so much more fun, I understand the difficulties when facing pricey items, With the price of mailing parcels, catalogues should be coming more readily available through a club sale. Stamp clubs can be a bit daunting first visit, but you will find members will welcome you with open arms, Young collectors as yourself especially. After a few visits and a few club auctions, you should have a good time.

You can pick up used catalogs on ebay for a fraction of their original cost. For example, a 2005 version of the Scott Specialized Catalogue of US Stamps and Covers is currently listed on ebay for $20 plus $7.95 shipping ( here). While it won't have current valuations or list post-2004 issues, the identifying information it contains (with some exceptions) will generally be consistent with that in the newer versions of the catalog.

Google stamp clubs in your town or city's close by, maybe head south also check the APS list of stamp clubs Here are the APS clubs in Missouri stamps.org/DisplayPage.aspx?id=69Many of the clubs have reference library's where you will have access to reference materials. Your local library may have what your looking for if not have them order it in. Once you reach 50 posts you are welcome to put a I want thread in the Buy Sell Section, many members upgrade their catalogues every few years and would be happy to sell you their old one, You may be surprised and be gifted on, stranger things have happen on TSF

There is a similar impact on those of us south of the border. I have at least 10 years of Unitrades that I would gladly give to anyone for the postage - however - note that the postage is $17 CAD for regular Parcel Post to the USA. I could put on the high value nice stamps which may make the postage cost easier to swallow. I buy them every year now and only use the last 2 years. Where could I post this offer?
